Surprise party

Re: Surprise party

I think this sounds nice but maybe a little girly. I'm sure he will like it and appreciate the effort, but is there a theme maybe that suits his interest?

Re: Surprise party

Sahar has raised a very very important point indeed that we missed out … TJ , you need a theme :hmmm:

Re: Surprise party

Umm… Egyptian ??

I love their pardas and cushions

I really don’t know how to make it more masculine… :konfused:

Re: Surprise party

please don't spread the rose petals on a white bedspread(as shown in the pic) your sheets will be stained forever!!!

Re: Surprise party

Hm. I guess it depends on his interests.

A couple years ago I did a surprise super hero birthday party for hubby. All the guests came as superheroes (known or invented). And one of the party games was to invent a superhero and create a costume for hubby (in teams).

What kinds of things does he like?

Re: Surprise party

^Hey, that sounds very interesting!!
How did you decorate everything in that case… ?! :konfused:

He loves sports, bright spacious places, chocolate, etc…

I like that superhero idea!! I want to use it…Can I…? But then…I want to use CBs, Sidras and MIAs ideas also…

Ahh…with that combo..I’ll end up having a Bollywood superhero!! :cb:

Re: Surprise party

You can use any idea you like :D I'll post what I did.

Re: Surprise party

:(

I wrote such a big entry and now its all gone! Stupid gateway issues!

Re: Surprise party

^ thats what happened to me in another thread..........and I don't have the heart to type it all out again :(

Re: Surprise party

ok so TRY #2:

So for our first anniversary, I made sure that aadi had no idea what was going on.
I ordered helium-filled balloons (about 50-75) with their strings attached and let them go in our bedroom. Originally I wanted to get a canopy and cover it with rose garlands but the shipping times werent enough for me to get everything in order. So I went ahead and did this balloon thingy instead. I took out the nicest sheets and covered the bed in dark red and pink rose petals and lit tea-lights all over the place.
For the hallway and bedroom floor I bought fake rose petals and scattered them all over - the real petals leave color on carpets so be careful with those if you have a carpeted place.
I ordered my fav. White Chocolate Raspberry cheesecake and had them make a little plaque to go with it saying Happy Anniversary -
For the rest of the place I dried up bouquets of roses and spray painted them Gold. It was soo much cheaper and took literally an hour to spray and set up. I still use them for the side tables when we have guests over so its been handy
For Dinner I ordered out from his favorite restaurant.. and finally I made sure I looked spectacular :D. Trust me, and try wearing a sari for the occasion. It’ll seriously have him go :hayaa:

Aww jazak Allah khair!! Please do so!! :hugz:

You guys are amazing!! I love the ideas!! :bulbuli:
Helium balloons are a must now

I bought the fabric today for my canopy!! It’s golden and burgundy. I’m trying to create a romantic atmosphere in our room.. It actually looks pretty nice-I’ve been trying to hide it from my hubby all day. :cb:

I’m going to go buy candles and potpourri this week for the stairs and my room, and I’ll leave the flowers for the last week, so they stay fresh.

I’ll wait for Sahar to post the details of her superhero party & I’ll try to do something like that!!

The PowerPoint slides are coming along well!!

I’m having a dawaat this week, so I’ll practice making the roses and all!!

I decided that I will only bake 24 different kind of cupcakes and order our favorite cake!!

:@: Mysti for sure I’ll wear a sari!!

Thank you sooooooo much everyone!!!

Re: Surprise party

Okay, I think a lot of this is not the kind of event you're planning, but I'll just let you know, in addition to what I already described above:

  1. The whole party was split into three teams that were used for all the games
  2. There was a relay game that involved rescuing innocent civilians and putting villains in jair
  3. I blindfolded one person on each team and gave them clay. Another person then spoke and guided the blindfolded person in reconstructing the X-men jet.
  4. We had a superman pinata and a superhero cake
  5. I had a friend draw "Pin the tail on Nightcrawler," but we ended up using it for decoration more.
  6. I labeled food with the theme (like guacamole was "Kryptonite" which worked well since my hubby can't eat avocados :D ).

This works because my hubby is a big kid, as are lots of our friends :D

Re: Surprise party

^Yeah… that will be very hard for me to do with my theme :konfused:
I’m sure he’ll feel like my hero after the surprise :hehe:
