I say change the name, farishtey will call you by your maiden name since that would not be 'your' name anymore. They would simly put cross next to your name and move on to the next person. Easy peasy escape from the hardship of the day of judgment and all the hisaab kitaab.
Change the name and poor frisheys won't a clue who you are!

Changing ur first name and ur family name is two different things. It is true that most convert change their names ex. from Mike to aslam but I havent heard of any who changed their family name.
Um, I'm pretty sure I mentioned Muhammad Ali and Kareem Abdul Jabaar in my original post.

I think it's nice when a family has the same last name but it's just a superficial reason. I swear half the women are opposed to it just....because.

It's her choice. Some people have mentioned religions reasons of which I don't know. Even if the religious argument exists I don't really think that changing your name will keep you out of heaven. Honestly, do you really think God would be so petty?

In my SIL's family the females all have different surnames to their brothers/fathers/male children.. it is such a nightmare trying to work out who is related to who..
