I am looking for some advice. I am getting married in about a month and my 11 year old nephew who is completing hifz would like to recite some quran at the reception. Are there any surahs or ayahs that he can recite that is relevant to the event, keeping in mind that he will also be reading the english translation? JazakAllah!
Aww JazakAllah! I figured it shouldn't be too long, because unfortunately people at weddings will start to talk during the recitation if its too lengthy, and I wouldn't want the Quran to be disrespected. Here you go :)
Recitation of Surah Fatiha with English translation AND the ayahs below in Arabic and English
[4:1] O people! be careful of (your duty to) your Lord, Who created you from a single being and created its mate of the same (kind) and spread from these two, many men and women; and be careful of (your duty to) Allah, by Whom you demand one of another (your rights), and (to) the ties of relationship; surely Allah ever watches over you.
[24:32] And marry the unmarried among you and the righteous among your male slaves and female slaves. If they should be poor, Allah will enrich them from His bounty, and Allah is all-Encompassing and Knowing.
[25:74] And those who say, "Our Lord, grant us from among our wives and offspring comfort to our eyes and make us an example for the righteous."
[30:21] And one of His signs is that He created mates for you from yourselves that you may find rest in them, and He put between you love and compassion; most surely there are signs in this for a people who reflect.
[2:25] And convey good news to those who believe and do good deeds, that they shall have gardens in which rivers flow; whenever they shall be given a portion of the fruit thereof, they shall say: This is what was given to us before; and they shall be given the like of it, and they shall have pure mates in them, and in them, they shall abide
salaam lk! I actually added another ayah which will be said at the end- Surah Ghafir 40:8
“Our Lord, and admit them to gardens of perpetual residence which You have promised them and whoever was righteous among their fathers, their spouses and their offspring. Indeed, it is You who is the Exalted in Might, the Wise.”
It is being held in the Islamic way, gender segregated and no music. I have opted to play nasheeds and naats (without instruments). Unfortunately, I still listen to music, but there are members on both sides of the family’s who do not. So out of respect I have chosen to play naats and nasheeds that do not have instruments. The naats/nasheeds will provide a background filler and create a different energy in the reception I think. I am actually planning to play this song called “A Promise” by Benammi. It is in Arabic, but in the description box it has the translation of the lyrics and I think it fits the occasion perfectly
@willow...wow! and jazakaAllah! for your thoughts and plans about your wedding to be blessful....
may Allah fill your life with peace and lots of barkat Ameen!
happy marriage :)
i didnt had recitation at my wedding (unfortunately)but will definitely do that for my sister's wedding inshaAllah!
