Well, i was wondering why Allah dedicated a whole chapter to story of Yousuf.

Well Allah was hoping that .. laAAallakum taAAqiloon .. i.e. perhaps we understand/comprehend. According to the Qur'an these true stories have lessons for men of understanding and somehow contain verfication of history.

I guess they can be used as a reference to verify against when latest historical research is done.. but sadly that's all been done by non-Muslims..

I was just reading this Surah the other day,...is it the 12th surah?
or 10th?

Surah Yousuf and Surah Maryam are the two of my favourite Surahs, and i often listen to their recitation, its so beautiful, specially in voice of Mashari Rashid and Abdul Basit.

Brother Antumul alona has PM me his view and raised few very good points that i’ll briefly decribe:

*It shows that a pious person will remain faithful to Allah and spread His guidance in all circumstances and ultimately Allah’s Will will be served.

*Allah showed the non believers of Makkah that His Will will be done, and his Guidance will spread despite their utmost opposition

*It is a source of comfort for anyone who is sad or is saddened by some situation in life.

And also the verse 9 in this Surah describes the human nature, perhaps which all of us are guilty of.12:9 “Slay ye Joseph or cast him out to some (unknown) land, that so the favour of your father may be given to you alone: **(there will be time enough) for you to be righteous after that!” **May be others can share what they think.
