Re: Surah Yaseen Khatam for the Sick.

That is a really good gesture Gina:)

Re: Surah Yaseen Khatam for the Sick.

^ a very good gesture indeed....
i wonder why the Prophet (saw) and his noble companions did not think of this....
maybe they were just less informed....

Re: Surah Yaseen Khatam for the Sick.

^ Very mean.

There is nothing wrong with praying for the sick.

Good one. :)

hmmm

ppl in pain ask allah for help.

second:: why were surah Na'as and Falak were giving to prophet?? if reciting them did not have an effect ???

not nice at all...should take your words back...We got the whole Quran from the prophet and you think they were less informed

Re: Surah Yaseen Khatam for the Sick.

Gina, surah Yasin is excellent for healing sick people and it'd generally a great prayer of the needy.

Please pray for for all of us.

Re: Surah Yaseen Khatam for the Sick.

^Now I remember A conversation between hmmmmm a shrink and hmm I guess a normal doctor in pakistan.

One person was telling how he has seen effect of surah on mental patient in acute pain.
It was long time ago so I cant remember the whole convo.

Re: Surah Yaseen Khatam for the Sick.

Gina,i need prayers for my kid .

Re: Surah Yaseen Khatam for the Sick.

Gina, also pray for our very own Ume Zafeerah. She has been sick for many days and she just found out she has pneumonia. She is only several medications at this point but your prayers would definitely help.

Hmmmm then may be someone should explain what is a Surah Yasin "khatam".

The Virtues and Benefits of Surah Yasin (36)

  1. The Prophet (SalAllahu alayhi wasalam) said, ‘Surely everything has a heart, and the heart of the Qur’an is Yasin. I would love that it be in the heart of every person of my people’[Bazzar]. (S.Muhammad Ali Sabuni, Tafsir-al-SabuniVol.2)

  2. The Prophet (SalAllahu alayhi wasalam) said, ‘Whoever recites Yasin once Allah will record the reward of reciting the Qur’an ten times.’[Maqal, Tirmidhi 2812/A & Dhahabi]

  3. It has been reported by Aisha (radiAllahu anha)that the Prophet (SalAllahu alayhi wasalam) said that there is a surah in the Qur’an that intercedes for itsreciter and forgive its listener. Know! It is Surah Yasin. It is called ‘Mu’amma’ in the Torah. It was enquired, what is Mu’amma? The Prophet (SalAllahu alayhi wasalam) said, ‘it embraces the person with the goodness of this world and removes the dismay of the Hereafter’[Hashiya of Tafsir Jalalalayn , pg 368].

  4. The Prophet said, ‘Whoever recited Surah Yasin in the night seeking Allah’s pleasure, Allah would forgive him’[Ibn Hibban, Darimi 3283/A, Abu Yala, Tabarani, Baihaqi & Ibn Mardawaih]

  5. Ma`qil ibn Yasar (Allah be pleased with him) relates that the Messenger of Allah (Allah’s blessings and peace be upon him, his family, companions, andfollowers) said,”Ya Sin is the heart of the Qur’an. No one reads it intending thereby Allah and the Next Abode except that Allah forgives them. Recite it for your deceasedones.” [Related by Ahmad, Abu Dawud, Nasa’i (this wording is his), and Hakim, who deemed it rigorously authenticated (sahih)]

  6. Imam Ghazali explained that this is because soundness of faith rests on acknowledging Resurrection and Judgment, and Surat Ya Sin details this in the most emphatic of ways. Imam Fakhr al-Din al-Razi concurred.

  7. Imam Tibi explained in his commentary on Mishkat al-Masabih that Surat Ya Sin was called ‘the Heart of the Qur ‘an ‘ because of what it contains of overwhelming proofs, decisive signs, subtle spiritual meanings, eloquent admonition, and stern warnings.

Rewards and Virtues of Surah Yasin, al Waqiah and al Mulk

It’s a collective reading Surah Yaseen, Surah fatiha and Allah’s name Ya Salamo is known for it’s healing properties. yes, what i wrong is to count the number of times one reads anything..therefore none of us count it we recite it as many times as we can.

Armughul, had we all followed the Holy Prophet’s example’s word by word..u wudn’t waste a single sec online on GS, u’d spend it in “zikr” u’re comment was un-called for and totally absurd.

This “khatam” is an initiative by our local Imam, a lot of people have been critically ill and he suggested all the men/women get together and recite it which will be followed by special dua’s (using the names of all sick people).

Re: Surah Yaseen Khatam for the Sick.

Hey Gina, pardon my ignorance, I just want to clarify if you don’t mind:

So why collective reading? Why don’t you all read on your own individually and make a dua? Is collective dua more likely to come true than an independent one? :hmmm:

It's usually done collectively as people aren't distracted.. the community maids take care of the kids. The Imam recites special dua's naming all the sick people.. later people collect money and donate to a particular charity. A "khatam" is just a gathering.. people tend to recite it more times then they usually would at home.

This is done at our local mosque.. usually every month.

Most likely, yes.

Re: Surah Yaseen Khatam for the Sick.

Hope it went well.

:)

It's today for us Bonnie :)

Recitation of Quran for the shifa of sick is indeed a sunnat .. Sura-e-Fateha is known as Sura-e-Shifa and in Bukhari, there is waqiyaa of one sahabi reciting it to cure a snake bitten person and later when he told Prophet :saw2:, prophet was happy to hear that

Re: Surah Yaseen Khatam for the Sick.

I dont think we can put restrictions on how people choose to do dua or what they ask for. There is no uniform way to ask for Allah swt's help and if we start imposing a certain way - because we dont like anything else - that is wrong. Especially when Muslims come in all shapes and sizes. :) Yes, if there is an association being made between Allah swt and someone/something else that is inccorrect. But in this case, its simply a group of people making dua for the sick...no different from us asking for Allah swt to make our loved ones better.

Gina, I hope it goes well. Inshallah. :)
