Re: Surah on weddingcard

i don't think it's a good idea to put a sura [or it's translation] on a wedding invitation card because it's considered disrespectful and some of the people receiving those cards might be offended. this is my understanding to you and others may/may not disagree.

poetry is fine! :)

Re: Surah on weddingcard

do u have poetry ideas then?

for d rest, am still searching for a surah...

Re: Surah on weddingcard

And among His Signs is this, that He created for you spouses of your own kind, that you may dwell in tranquility with them, and He has put love and mercy between your hearts: verily in that are Signs for those who reflect (Quran 30:21).

I think its a beautiful idea to put Surah on the card. Everyone reads it and it increases their knowledge. I don't consider it disrespectful.

Re: Surah on weddingcard

i don't think its disrespectful to put it on the card, however, consider that people will likely recycle the card once the wedding is over. that might be a little disrespectful?

otherwise, in english, i prefer quotes over poems. some of my favourites are:
love is for the lucky and the brave - anon
love always and deeply - anon
the best is yet to come and won't that be fine - from the sinatra song
love is a many splendored thing - shakespeare
love is patient, love is kind - from the bible
where there is love, there is life - gandhi
I love you because the entire universe conspired to help me find you. - paulo coelho,* the alchemist*
love is composed of a single soul inhabiting two bodies. - aristotle
you're just too good to be true, can't take my eyes off you. - frankie valli

Re: Surah on weddingcard

i chose this one:

Marriage is a union of souls, in the deepest sense. Allah (S.W.T.) joins these two souls together so that they may enjoy tranquility and stability in a marital home filled with sincere love and compassionate mercy.

Re: Surah on weddingcard

please dont put a Surah in Arabic or its english translation on a wedding card because of 2 reasons

1) it is HARAAM to touch Quranic Ayahs and their translation without wazu. So what are the chances that people who receive your invitation will have proper wazu??? Most likely they won't and will end up touching it and be sinful.

2) What do most people do with invitations? After they have attended it they throw it in garbage. I am sure you wouldn't want Quranic Ayahs in the garbage. God forbid

plz consider a poem but no Quranic Ayahs or Hadith

Re: Surah on weddingcard

ok a few people have said not to put an surah on the card for mainly reason that people throw away the cards....

But all the pakistani wedding invitations i have seen have had 'in the name of allah', bismillah, and in this trend.... For me this is the same.

People should just be carefull not throwing away cards like that...

Re: Surah on weddingcard

i beg to differ. it is definitely not HARAM as posted by zabarjud.

and come on folks. im sure Allah SWT understands that we do not mean to be disrespectful with the Quranic verses. In my opinion, it is perfectly alright as people who read them will gain knowledge as well.
