Surah Fatihah - How do you view it?

:salam:

In the blessed opening of The Majestic Qur’an we are presented with a small Surah which is also a du’a and a summary of the Book that it precedes.

This is not a thread of textual reference … this one is to gauge your feelings and emotions and perspectives on these verses.

Help us understand the way you bring them into your life during prayer and otherwise.

Your reflections!

I have one point and inshaAllah more to follow but today I felt in the Surah we claim to worship Him Alone and ask from Him Alone … is this really true? And if so we then say … Guide us to the Straight Path.

It is as though we barter with the notion that since we only pray to and ask help from Him then we want to be guided. But what wisdom is there in this supplication!

Instead of asking for this and that all we ask for is guidance which will help us in this life and the next. But also it will reconfirm what we said earlier that by being guided we will worship and ask from Him even more earnestly and more earnestly and so on … This Surah is a gem and has depth that I can bearly talk about … please share your feelings … they don’t even have to do with the meaning of the words just the feeling or flow and how the words sound to you. Please discuss.

Re: Surah Fatihah - How do you view it?

Salam bro, quite a refreshing topic after a long while.
I view this chapter as The Key (al fatiha) ... the essence of the Quran is for one to let go of his/her ego. The Key is therefore in the tone of utmost humility with which one may unlock the code that follows immediately after.

Re: Surah Fatihah - How do you view it?

Surah Al-Fatiha is Ummul-kitaab. As far as i remeber my lessons this surah contains words which comes more than 8000 times in Quraan. we recite this surah almost 40-45 times a day and it has got very very beautiful meaning . I very well remember my teacher saying that we should be very sincere when we say IHDINAS SIRAWTAL MUSTAKHEEM. He gave example of a student who cries five times a day in front of Allah(swt) to help him succeed in exams but never goes to school. Mashallah surah Al-Fatiha and Surah Al-Ikhlaas has got very beautiful meaning and frankly speaking reciting these surah's makes me cry. After learning each verse or Surah we can/should follow - ASK- EVALUATE- PLAN- PROPAGATE cycle, so that we can earn more reward inshallah.

JazakumAllahukhair to you both

Two amazing perspectives:

Yes the root word for Miftah (key) in Arabic is the same as that for Fatihah as you know.
It is like the Qur’an is encrypted for those who Fear God.

Encryption - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In cryptography, encryption is the process of transforming information (referred to as plaintext) using an algorithm (called cipher) to make it unreadable to anyone except those possessing special knowledge, usually referred to as a key. The result of the process is encrypted information (in cryptography, referred to as ciphertext). In many contexts, the word encryption also implicitly refers to the reverse process, decryption (e.g. “software for encryption” can typically also perform decryption), to make the encrypted information readable again (i.e. to make it unencrypted).

I totally like the idea of Ask Evaluate Plan Propagate these are levels of knowledge that we need to be able to say that we understand and apply.
