i went to a Saeed Anwar talk in Manchester(trafford area) about a month ago, some of the talk was focused on the Pakistani cricket team, Saeed told us all present there about Youhana becoming Muslim, also made interesting point that when he used to play cricket, in the evening 10 Muslim players would go out to hit the town and Yousuf would be the only guy who stayed behind!
Although I haven't been residing in Pakistan for a number of years now, but at least for Karachi, I could tell you that an average citizen could care less as to what you follow or practice.
The numerous rumours about Pakistan team could make one assume that the team itself is not very practicing and if such does happen to be the case, they won't be going around forcing others to follow their beliefs.
And if it's the tableeghi jamat members who helped him convert, many of them are the nicest and amongst the humblest individuals; although I don't quite agree or follow with what they preach. They wouldn't push/force anyone into converting.
I hope Youhana finds peace and solace in Islam and all the best to him, insha'Allah.
