Superglue!

You might not believe it but even the inventor of this fantastic glue admits that the Millitary used it for years… confirming something i have always made use of when i thought the need was worthy.

Yes this now household item was used to literally surgically glue troops up and stop the bleeding… originally as a spray on furmula in Vietnam.

But i would not recomend you use it to patch up yourself becuase it stings like hell… not to mention you might posion yourself depending on which variant you use.

But it’s a remarkable substance and was officially certified safe to use by the US surgeon general 1998 for conventional medical use.

It can not only patch up cuts and laceration wounds but will stop bleeding from deep wounds as well and can even temporarily set bones and relieve other seious injuries.

It holds skin very well with the only side effect being it is very painfull when applied.

Oh the other side effect is if your using the spray on form keep eyes protected and use in good ventilation the fumes are toxic.

But the benefits are also great and besides it is a household Icon that was originally intended to be used as a glue for space age weapons and smart guns but the glue was unstable… however seeing how it works well with skin and it’s incredible water resistant properties the Millitary allowed it to be used as a special medical kit piece.

So there you have it folks if you happen to cut yourself and plasters are not available or dont do the job as well then try the superglue.

Oh and by the way this is not a joke research it if you want.

Re: Superglue!

ewwwww that sounds painful!!! don’t try it at home kids!!

Re: Superglue!

Actually the US governments approved it's medical use since 1998 for surgical purposes, it's been used for years on animals.

It's advantage over surgical Sutures is that it is more secure and prevents nasty infections from getting into the wound... plus although it's painfull it's fast acting and recovery time is much more rapid compared to stichtes and sutures. Plus although it does leave a visible scar it's less obvious than traditional surgical methods.

Re: Superglue!

Actually, Faris is right. I’ve used it many times in the past and it’s not painful at all…in fact, it seems to take the pain away. :hmmm:

Re: Superglue!

Yes Maroush it takes the pain away much faster than conventional surgical methods… I wouldn’t say it’s painless but it’s less painfull than stitches. Also it’s something one can get used to over time… unlike plasters and bandages it’s much cleaner and low maintenance as well… you dont have to keep changing the coverings of the wound.

I’m wondering if maybe they will offer superglue treatment in A+E soon. :cb:

Re: Superglue!

Well it would be damn quicker than having to hang around A&E for hours!! :hehe:

Note: If you split your head open or sever one of your limbs off, please don’t try using super-glue!!! :hehe:

Re: Superglue!

ohmigosh maroush u have used superglue on wounds? :hayaa:

This actually makes me want to try it out (because I keep cutting myself in the kitchen :vivo: )

Question: How long does superglue stay on the skin for? How does it wear itself out?

Re: Superglue!

It stays on for at least a couple of days… depends on how regularly you wash it and wether you pick at the glue or not… it’s waterproof but not curiousity proof :cb: Avoid picking at it…

Also it seals the wound almost imediately from any further bleeding… and you can always top it up so long as you have a plentifull supply. :salute:

Re: Superglue!

so you must pull it off when u want to remove it?

Re: Superglue!

I didn't get wounds or anything but when I was younger I used to love drying superglue on my fingers. Then scrapping it off. It used to hurt, while taking it off but it was cool. I think I liked the feel or smell, can't remember.
