I used to have dry hair and a oily scalp with dandruff even though i was using intensive moisturizing conditioner. my hair soaks up water easily, so i am thinking that maybe the water was preventing the conditioner from absorbing into my hair.
What I do now is use shampoo on the scalp only (the ends get a bit of diluted shampoo when i rinse), and conditioner only from the ears down. that way the scalp doesn't get any residue.
I gently squeeze out my hair before i get out and then run garnier fructis shine serum through my hair and let it air dry. If there's a dawat, i use an extra pump and blow dry.
btw do not use amla hair oil...it is horrible to get out, and when you have long hair, that means it is 3-4 years old, ie. it is pretty delicate. so it sucks, i ended up using harsh dishwashing liquid in my hair to get the grease out of my hair, so i think it damaged my hair more overall.
