Superbowl

They say a record number of Americans watched the game this Sunday.

Do people from the civilized world watch this game or is it watched by Americans only?

Re: Superbowl

i had to google the word 'superbowl' first.

Re: Superbowl

lol Football? more like Hand Egg.

Re: Superbowl

I had never heard of Superbowl till i came to Canada!!

And I strongly DISAGREE with it being called FOOTBALL!!! urgh! 99% of the time they are carrying the ball...why would they call it FOOTball?

If they removed all the safety gear it would be more like Rugby! and they should not call the Superbowl the WORLD championships..coz USA is not the whole WORLD!

P.S. but I still did enjoy the game on sunday coz it was so close!

Re: Superbowl

Actually the fact that they wear pads makes football more dangerous in some ways because people can launch themselves as projectiles. The number of football players with debilitating injuries, brain trauma etc, that appear in old age is staggering. The impact of football hits doesn't show up until many years after the player has stopped playing. Rugby on the other hand is more violent on the surface. You break fingers, get bloody noses etc, but no blunt force damage. If you hit someone in rugby the way football players hit each other, you would break your shoulder. I'm not saying football is more tough, just that the pads add a different level of lethality.

I played football in high school and I would be a little hesitant to let my kids play.

As for the OP: Americans like to hype up the fact that billions of people watch the superbowl, when in reality it's far less. A lot of people do watch the game however, most of them in North America. The superbowl is all hype, because the best games are usually the two conference championship games.
