I am Canadian and this is my first pregnancy. I am currently 10 weeks pregnant. I moved to Saudi with my hubby last week. In Canada, my tests were done by my family doctor. There is a test done around 12th week to check for spina bi fida or downs syndrome. I was hoping to get those tests done in Saudi. The earliest Gyna apt that I have got here is in JAn 2015 !!! That is just too late ! That means my tests for spina bi fida will be done late. I am stressed

Firstly dont stress, that wont help. Have you asked if its ok to have this test in january? Or somewhere u can get it done privatley? Im sure the other ladies with experience will advice better just stay calm inshallah all will be well

If you are in Riyadh, try Hammadi hospital. They are pretty good at giving the earliest dates possible. Or try Dallah hospital but make sure you speak to a manager in thia hospital.
try another clinic or hospital… you dont have to wait for that particular dr…where in saudi are you located? i can give contacts for decent gynaes.

It may be standard procedure in Canada but they don’t do those tests here on their own unless indicated. So u would have to ask for it urself. They do a full anomaly scan after 22-24 weeks, I don’t remember exactly. Where they check for heart defects and other development issues. That one is standard procedure. Don’t stress too much, if uv been taking ur folic acid and prenatal vitamins and ur a young mother u r very low risk for those issues. Just eat healthy and pray for a healthy baby with good naseeb. IA everything will be fine. There r a lot of mothers u don’t get this testing done so iA everything will b fine.
