Super conducting Cyclotron Project

Only other country, working on similar project - USA. (NOT even Russia, China or Israel is working on this)

From the Variable Energy Cyclotron, energetic heavy ion beams are available. A 5 giga watt electron beam is generated, and can be used to destroy an incoming missile or a plane, by burning its electronics components in a single burst.

The part that India has one of the VERY few VEC projects is true.

But where did you get the death-ray part?

Any sources, links etc?

ICBM Target Coords: 27.500S, 153.017E

Search for INDUS-1, INDUS-2, KALI-3000, KALI-5000 Projects in Google or Yahoo. If you can’t find appropriate links, you can search it at www.DAE.gov.in ->Department of Atomic Energy, India.

If you still can’t find, let me know,
I can easily give other sources.

Forgot to mention - look for Project Durga, as well.

While its not in use ... can I use it to roast a marshmallows?
Please!?

wow. impressive

sure it can kill 500 million men in one shot, but i bet you could also cook food for 500 million hungry 'uns in one burst

No we cannot! Everybody in this forum knows India is a beggar nation with about a billion HINDOO beggars.

Nice contribution to this thread, dear moderator (of another forum)!! Good job!!!

BTW, Who-Me, can you comment more about this subject please, you seem to know a lil bit more than most of us. Is project Durga technically feasible before 2007, for a country like India?

What are the other parallel technologies that India may have to have to make it successful?

They say, they are using Anupam super-computers instead of cray - that in essence is a big step for India - any other major hurdle you foresee/guess?

http://www.gupistan.com/gallery/4/indus1.gif

INDUS-1, the first Synchrotron Radiation Source (SRS) of India, is under regular operation now at the Centre for Advanced Technology (CAT), Indore. The stored current has reached twice the design value, and the life time of the INDUS-1 beam is nearly one hour. This lifetime is limited by the pressure in the vacuum chamber which is of the order of 10-8torr. With the operation of INDUS-1, it is expected that the vacuum will improve and a pressure 10-9torr will be reached. At this pressure, the lifetime of its beam is expected to be a few hours.

INDUS-1 consists of an injector system – a 20MeV microtron and 700MeV booster synchrotron, and 450MeV storage ring.

To utilise the radiation from INDUS-1, five beamlines have been planned. Of these, two are already installed and commissioned — one each was designed, developed and constructed at CAT and the Inter-University Consortium for DAE Facilities (IUC-DAEF), Indore. The beam lines are now routinely used for research work.

INDUS-2 is the second electron storage ring under construction at CAT. It will have nominal operating electron energy of 2.5GeV. Injector system, presently working for INDUS-1, will also provide accelerated electron beam of 700MeV to INDUS-2.

good info dear

Linux Is Best To Love

A nice pic previous model!

Just came to know of another similar project - Project FOTIA

More info on Google.

go to some indian site kumara, whats the point telling us these things . If u want to impress Pakistani people , ok ......atleast i am impressed......satisfied now go back to ur bin and dont waste my time as it is the most precious thing which i dont want to waste on such craps.

A Stranger But Not

Thanks for your advice, Rimkhana.

Okie what I meant by Very few projects was this is OLD stuff. And none of the developed nations are persuing it actively anymore. Theres that hush hush star-wars program conducted by US Defence Dept which included these death rays. But no one knows how successful they were. The very few videos (released by the US govt) of the projects were suspected to be fake. Now that covered.

from: http://www.dae.gov.in/ni/niapr01/yr2000_5.htm

where we have the First picture posted by you. It says following statement under the picture:

**From the Variable Energy Cyclotron, energetic heavy ion beams were available for experiments. **

Indus-1 indus-2:

**CAT is engaged in developing synchrotron radiation sources Indus-1 and Indus-2, and accelerators for basic research, industrial and medical applications. **

do you see anything about frying air planes in mid air?

Kali-5000

Which all the sites call mean-satallite-frying-machine is…

**BARC continued with the testing of 500 keV accelerator, upgradation of KALI-5000 system, and setting up of an Electron Beam (EB) Centre at Kharghar, Navi Mumbai in collaboration with SAMEER. The EB Centre will be a commercial facility of electron beam irradiation. **

Again no mention of military uses.

While this is good research its nothing close to what you make it look like. This was mid last year so the news is not THAT old. This kind of research takes decades.

I read somewhere that Kali weighs 26 tons needs 12000 lit of oil to be stored with it and is a single shot machine, hardly a feasible weapon.

They say its being improved but I couldnt find it on official sites.

So lets not concentrate on prospective and proposed weapons, shall we?

and whats that supposed to mean?

my point was obviously aimed at your bragging of how it can roast this and burn that...all aimed at destruction, warfare and annihilation, whereas that money can, and should be used to provide basic neccessities to the citizens.
a useless arms race initiated, in which india first exploded nukes, forcing pakistan to do the same. U think multimillion dollar weapons should be india's first priority while half its country finds clothes to cover itself?

Some info in “the-week”, about “Durga” and “Kali”

Another one: From August 1999 (old news)
India building beam weapon

Another one: http://www.newsindia-times.com/20010518/national04.htm

Excerpt:
The report further revealed work on a terra-watt laser is “progressing as per schedule” at the Center for Advanced Technology in Indore, another weapons oriented laboratory under the DAE. One terra-watt equals thousand billion watts and such high power lasers are used for simulating thermonuclear explosions in the laboratory. India’s four-beam laser facility in Indore, built totally indigenously, puts it in a good position right behind Russia’s “superlaser” system code-named Delfin and before Israel’s “Aladin”. The DAE report does not mention when the terra-watt laser will be ready for testing but says that BARC has also been working on the upgradation of KALI-5000 a machine that shoots out beams of particles called electrons. The particle beam weapons, first developed by the United States in the 1980s, can potentially knock out enemy missiles and according to sources in DAE, could provide effective anti-missile protection for ground based Prithvi and Agni missiles.

Delhi Is Finalizing Work On ‘Soft Kill’ Weapon System. Jane’s Defence Weekly. Bedi, Rahul, Sep 01, 1999, p 13 **

Indian atomic scientists claim to be in the final stages of assembling a powerful electron accelerating machine, the country’s first ‘star wars’ weapon whose beams could cripple enemy missiles and aircraft. P H Ron, head of the accelerator and pulse power division at the Bhaba Atomic Research Center in Bombay, said the KALI 5000 (Kilo-Ampere Linear Injector) will be ready for testing by year-end. Bursts of microwaves for KALI packed with gigawatts of power could “soft kill” incoming enemy aircraft and missiles by crippling their electronics systems and computer chips.

Akif:

you are right! Point taken.

But security concerns go hand in hand with develeopmental concerns. India still spends a very very low amount “per capita” on Defence, when compared to almost evry other nation on earth.

India was ranked 133 in 1999 in overall human development, in 2001, it is 115. In 2002, it is expected to shoot higher as new literacy rates are available based on recent National survey.

So, in essence, you are right, but defence cannot be ignored. Infact I repeat India spends one of the lowest amounts for defence in per capita terms in the whole world.

BTW, just got another pic of VEC

http://www.gupistan.com/gallery/4/vec.jpg

[This message has been edited by kumarakn (edited July 28, 2001).]

hang on…you missed what I said again.

Yur Dae site says in with 2000 that Kali is a commercial facility and you throw a joke like http://www.dromo.com/fusionanomaly/kali.html at us?

I am sure these are very serious and successful projects. But I fail to see them as weapons.

See what you are quoting are journalist type sources. Aimed at exciting people.

Look at:

**
DEW of India

DEW are not mentioned in the Indian defence environment because it is more or less taken for granted that such weapon systems are beyond our means and that is why they do not feature in any of the military studies. Indian military may not be thinking of application of laser beyond laser ranging and laser designation. Recently a study has been ordered by the Chiefs of Staff Committee (COSC) to look into the feasibility of the DEW. Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), the only research organisation in India serving Indian defence purposes has certain research projects on laser weapons but it is not known what the state of that research is and whether any weapon system is developed for deployment with the armed forces. But before the Indian Armed Forces can lay their hands on the DEW and employ them, they may undertake defensive measures.
**(Part of a BIG Directed Energy Weapons article)

I got this from a reletively more reliable source. And it says its uncertain at best. The last thing I wanno start believing is newspapers which are handed out free outside Train stations. Most of what Indian government (or reliable non commercial source) says and it doesnt defy Science, I am ready to believe it.
