The match was shown live on Dutch TV as well…(at midnight local time).
There are only some sports of which I don’t have single clue about the rules, and along with curling, American football (and like sports such as rugby etc), is a game I can’t understand a thing of, apart from (how many players are there in one team?) x number of barbarians fighting about a ball. During the live-transmission I didn’t understand much, so I recorded it.
Now can someone explain me the rules, so when I watch it again, I at least can get some sense of the excitement that comes along during a final.
Thanks in advance
(Ps, I found it quite cool that the referee had a microphone…this should also be done in soccer too:k: )

You didn't understand it, so you recorded it? You must be one extremely disciplined guy. If I don't understand a game, I usually just change the channel.
Anyway, so it seems you do know "how many players are there in one team"? So how many are there in American football?
there is a 100 yard long field..and your goal is to get to the end zone..you have 4 tries to make 10 yards..if you make the 10 yards you get another 4 tries to make 10 yards..defence is trying to stop you..if you can't make the 10 yards after the first three tries you normally punt the ball to the other team..cuz if you fail on the 4th try the other team will take over from the same spot..but if you punt the ball they will have a longer distance to score
also u should know about field goal..lets say if you are closer to the end zone but you can't get the first down because defence has stopped you from getting the first down on the first 3 tries..you can make a field goal and get three points..touchdown gets you 7 points
I am no expert but the try (extra point conversion) by a kick is usually at least 2-3 yards away from the goal line. And the distance between the goal line and goal post is about 30 feet or 10 yards.
So, the ball should be placed at least 12-13 yards away.
Distance from the end zone to goal = 10 yards
Line of scrimmage is at the 2 yards line = 2 yards
Ball placer is five yards behind the snapper = 5 yards
