Sunset for A380

Sad day for aviation - Airbus A380 production comes to stop.

This majestic beauty of a plane - a dare to dream promise that never came to full fruition from commercial PoV but instantly won over the hearts of flying public.

The big comfy and super quiet cabin with extra leg rooms even in economy, curvaceous cabin walls giving extra room; smooth and graceful gliding like feel at take off and landing; the open courtyard like space at the front where you could nearly damn play indoor soccer, the plane is just too good for its own sake.

On a couple occasions where I flew the business class on upper deck, that experience was just on a whole different level with its plush cocktail lounge in the rear and all that jazz compare to flying business on comparatively cheekarr, noisy planes like 777. Yah, after having flown most of my long hauls on this beastly beauty in the past 7, 8 years, I have come to totally resent all other types. Whenever am booking my flights on trans-continentals hauls, I always go for this A380 if option available. I hope Emirates will continue to fly it well into 2020s.

Interesting… :hmmm:
Whats the reason behind stopping its production?
And could you plz post the news source?

Removed the 747 from the discussion the OP is right! not fair to compare Apples with Oranges! :)

Or may be becoz Boeing is a US company whereas Airbus is European or French made… :hmmm:

well it's true that queen had her days but her reign of supremacy in the skies has also come to an end. Boeing has also stopped production of passenger version of 747s, will only produce freighters. Most airlines have/are phasing out jumbos.

4 engines are just beat and out of touch with modern aviation trends - unfortunate for A380, I could care less for 747.

OK its not about caring or not caring; this design of Boeing called the 747 has carried close to 5.6 Billion passengers to their destinations in comfort; the most efficient and elegant machine in the sky! and it was all designed on the drawing boards using slide rules, and not Computers.

I think the cost of operation to Airlines was 1 and 3/4 cents per seat mile back in the 80’s

well it IS about not caring because the thread is about A380, not 747

@SindSagar yah I see that. But now you should switch your loyalty to 787 or the upcoming 777x. From the pure efficiency and comfort PoV, even 787 is miles ahead of 747s with its depressingly 80s feel of cabin interior. I think in the coming years 777x and A350 would be all the rage for 14+ hours long haul routes.
