end of june I am off to Pakistan for 3 months… yeshhhh
But… last time when I went in summer it was in 2004, i spent the whole summer in Karachi. At that time I burnt my skin badly and since then I have really sensitive and dry skin. I use a very oily moisturizer from ‘LUSH’ and that has helped my skin settle down a lot. In the beginning I was prescribed a cream by my doc to heal the burnt skin but now I just use the normal creams.
What’s the best way of getting around this problem? please share you tried and tested sunscreen creams, I personally have not used any in the past but am thinking of taking it with me.
there are two kinds of sunscreens. chemical and physical. physical sunscreen is stuff like zinc oxide and titanium oxide...they provide protection by literally covering the skin. chemical sunscreens include oxybenzone and avobenzone (im not sure if the spellings are correct). if u use titanium dioxide sunscreens it will leave a whitish cast on your skin which will look weird. look for sunblock with avobenzone in it such as one made by Aveeno. nothing beats just avoiding the sun in the hours of 10-3 pm and wearing protective clothing (loose light colored clothing/hats etc) if your skin tends to burn. pure aloe vera is also great for using after sun exposure to soothe the skin.
First of all…what is the difference between sunscreens and sunblocks?
second…I have gotten an allergic reaction to many sunscreens I have used in the past and therefore gave up on using them. These days the weather has gotten so bad and the UV rays are at its worst…i feel terrible about not being able to protect my skin from the damaging effects
Is there any particular scunscreen you can suggest for sensitive skin? Any advice as to what i should do other then stay indoors?
i use md.forte environmental after care.. had spf30 is veru sensitive towards problem skin.. u can only order it thru skinstore.com or something its like 20 dollars a tube.. but i use it like a ritual . daily ..
I have really sensitive skin too, and i live by the Aveeno brand, but then again something that works for me might not work for you, get your doctor to refer you to a dermo in your area, nothing beats having a proffessional look at your skin plus the doctor can tell you products that will suit your particular skin type and products that will benefit you the most.
Don’t worry you’re not doomed to a nocturnal lifesyle.
Sunblock 60 by Stiefel is the best sunblock I've used so far, it actually provides total protection from sun-tan, was recommended to me by my dermatologist.:)
Its like those of us who are in Lahore know how hot it is these days, and how difficult it is to go in the sun, but I have to do it daily, and still I haven't got tanned at all, Alhamdulillah! :)
