sunscreen

do you guys use sunscreen on your tots? how old do they have to be to use it and what brand/s do you guys use?
my guy is 10 months old and has his dad’s complexion so i think he’ll tans easily and burn faster so he needs something. and is a spray better than a cream?

Re: sunscreen

I use Neutrogena cream. They have one for babies. I think I started using it when my son was 7 or 8 months. I ll start using it on my daughter, she is 9 months.
I have never used spray.

Re: sunscreen

As soon as they are out in the sun exposed.... I started on midget at 3 months...used nivea's... I cant remember the factor but i bought the highest i could find.

Spray i always eanted to use but its SO gonna get in their eyes... So i grudingly use the lotion...

Re: sunscreen

I bought the Aveeno baby one.I think it was SPF 55,but I don't remember well.
I started using last summer when she was a lil over a year.

Re: sunscreen

Doctors don't recommend using sunscreens on babies under 6 months because of toxins. I believe the sunscreen bottles have that warning too. I asked my doctor when my son was born. He said any sunscreen is good but its best to avoid babies from sun. Make sure they wear cap that covers good, have a canopy on the stroller etc. I don't remember him mentioning a specific brand but any brand with good SPF should work.

Re: sunscreen

I am also thnikng should avoid the chemicals as much as we can on little babies.
But hot countries like pakistan we sun exposure is too much , hv to do something. I always heard abut johnson lotion that widely used for babies till 10 years or may be more.
but this also very informative. do u use any home tip as well or no?/

Re: sunscreen

I think its one of those when to start solids debate... I europe we start from 4 months whilst elsewhere its 6months.... We are told to put our kids out in the sun when its weak... Likeearly morning and late evening.... Cuz kids here, especially brown skinned are at a high risk for developing lack of vit d. Our kids literally sleep in the street... So we cant do that without sunscreen. Im not talking newborns here.... Bit from 3 months.

But i agree....caps, canopies etc are all great

Re: sunscreen

unless its sunscreen, don't put lotion on your kid before you head into the sun- they'll bake!
