I’m looking for a lightweight sunscreen with high SPF (35 or higher), for combination skin (oily and dry), that can be worn under make up, fresh scent, and wont clog pores. In any price range.
I’ve tried Neutrogena Spectrum Plus Sunblock SPF 100+…
I have been using this for the past 3 months… this is the worst product I have ever come across… It’s has a strong smell, it’s greasy, and clogs pores. I haven’t break out like this since I was 12. The reason why I decided to try this is because Neutrogena products are usually pretty good, and this had the highest SPF that I could find… which I also read may not be safe…
I heard Neutrogena Ultra Sheer SPF 85 is pretty good, but I don’t know if I should try another neutrogena product after this experiences…
I keep switching between Neutrogena SPF 45, which I have zero complain or issue about, and Shisiedo Ultimate sun protection SPF 60. It has a very delicate smell, doesn’t clog pores, if removed properly, and is very light weight. Cons are its steep price and the fact that it can deposit on your skin and make you look ghastly white if your skin isn’t well exfoliated.
I use the MAC prep and prime spf 50...and I really like it. It doesn't clog my pores and I haven't broken out with it, I have normal to oily skin. Just like with anything else with an spf in it if you apply a really thick layer it can leave a white cast but it does disappear after a while.
That being said it's a primer and I'm looking for a good moisturiser with a high spf...I can't seem to find a decent one over here.
I like Natura Bisse's daily sun defence spf 30, it's so light and feels great under make up, in fact the only sunscreen not to break me out, but it's very expensive (£55). You can purchase from Space NK or beautique.com
I have been using sun screens since I was a kid since I had a photo allergic reaction to the sun. the reaction has improved with age but i still wear sun block every day instead of a moisturizer. If you are on a budget, my recommendation is to use neutrogena sheer dry touch. I also love Aveeno Continuous Protection Sunblock Face lotion. In addition to being a sunscreen, it has good skin care ingredients including vitamin A and C. Both these sun blocks are very sheer and light weight and don't cause break outs. I never use a sunscreen greater than SPF 30 and there are several reasons for that:
1. Most sun screens with higher spf are thick and difficult to work with. This is true for the neutrogena dry touch range and aveeno and some other ranges I have tried. This essentially means you need a moisturizer in ADDITION to the sunblock. which is basically adding one more layer of chemicals on your skin.
2. Higher SPF= more chemicals on your skin. SPF 30 blocks roughly 97% of suns rays. SPF 55 blocks 99%. For me personally, the 2% added blockage is not worth the extra chemicals. I would never advise anyone to go beyond SPF 55 unless you have a severe allergy to the sun.
those with severe allergy to the sun should try the ferrari's of sun blocks. It's made by the institut esthederm, a french brand. They have a photo reverse range which is very very effective in completely blocking the sun and making your skin adapt to the sun. The problem is that it is very pricey with a 50 ml bottle costing around $75. a cheaper alternative is Neova Ti-Silc GT SPF 60, Total Block UVA/UVB SPF 65.
wt do u think which one is good for face?
a: a moisturizer with spf like loreal white essence day cream spf 15.
b: moisturizer like olay and separate sunblock over it.
**I’ve always used Clinique’s Super City Block 40 SPF and I totally love it cuz it’s oil free and I can wear it under makeup without having to worry about breakouts or anything .. it’s not sticky and gives a matte look **
