Shiiiit. I used Coppertone Oil-free Ultra sheer sunscreen SPF 30 for the face last nite, to test it out, and now my face is kinda red n jallan horee hai. I applied ti to a small area last nite and i’m only feeling this now. I’ve never used sunscreen before, is this normal first time-effect? What other brands (drugstore!) wud be better for sensitive skin?
Re: sunscreen
May be usiing it at nite did that to u.
Try it again in the morning.
Re: sunscreen
Sunscreens aren't suppose to burn or cause any reaction.
Re: sunscreen
Well the right side of my face is very red and a lil bit swollen now and very warm. I think the "cooling" techniques I used (cold water, milk, vaseline) r makign it worse :(
Re: sunscreen
I guess you are allergic to something in it or just have sensitive skin? Don't use this one again, return it or something. I have ultra sensitive skin and I use L'Oreal Ombrelle, maybe it will work for you too.
Re: sunscreen
yup I think SS is right, you are most likely allergic to some chemical in the sun screen, has it happened before with any other sunscreen? And allergic reactions aren't always immediate, this one is the latent type which shows about 12 hours later. Don't use it again :-P
Re: sunscreen
Do you have a list of sunscreens that you've tried and reacted to? Often it's the case that it's chemical sunscreens that are the culprit, so you'd need to ensure that the product you used only contained physical (mineral) sunscreens like titanium dioxide and/or zinc oxide.
Sunscreens that are recommended for sensitive skin include Dermalogica's sensitive face block and any of the sunscreens from the Avene range.
Re: sunscreen
I have never ever used sunscreen before. This is the first time i’m using it, since i’m trying to be more conscious of my face and skin (so many problems I never noticed before
). This one says it’s oil-free and it’s coppertone so I thought it would be a safe bet.
I’ve tried cold water, cold milk, and the burnin sensation is gone but its still red.
Re: sunscreen
How about using some aloe vera gel to tone down the redness and burning sensation?
Re: sunscreen
we dont have it on hand but ill buy some today when I go out, if it's not okay by tommororw, then ill try that.
