I was wondering if someone could confirm for me what happens after someone who is sunni pakistani muslim dies…as I have been given conflicting informtion!
Do sunni muslims do something 40 days after death? Some people have said yes…some people have said no…this is only shiites …and its only 3 days.

Pakistan main bht maslaks hain jasay kaha gaya hai ka end of the world honay say pehlay 72 maslaks hongay to diffrences to hain pakistan main agar koi muslim ki death hojay to log 40 din ka sog manatay hain or kuch log 3 days or bas ya aik taiwil bahas hai kon sahi kon ghalat malom nahi bas tradiotnaly jo families main hota hai who follow kartay hain.
jo jis maslak say belong karta hai who us cheez ko follow karta hai.
sub maslak ALLAH ko mantay hain or Us ka Rassol ko to is main confuse na hon .

Religiously speaking, their doing things for 40 days doesn't have any kind of basis. From what I know, open mourning is only 3 days.
hmm ok so not everyone follows the 40 day tradition?

Lots of sect in Pakistan and every Muslim follow there sect instruction most of them go for 3 days and most of them go for 40 days. So we can’t say your doing right thing or wrong they just follow the instruction of there sect so all Muslim pray to Allah if u want to clear your confusions u should start study on that subject and ask Alim he will guide.

and just to add to the above, even this open mourning of 3 days does not mean they have to do something special for these 3 days or on 3rd day only
dua-e-maghfirat, sadqa etc is something we can do anytime we want, no fixing of days
