Well today, me and a guppan went to Tangra Masala for iftari/dinner (in queens, not Lahore ;)) and Im soooo glad i finally got a chance to try it
I had not realy wanted to go there fo ra while til i just finally got curious..one reason coz it just looks blah from the outside. It looks really plain, liek a typical chinese/desi takeaway, i..e, so so food and even worse seating area. However, the inside was really nice. It was really dark, the lights were very dim and there was soft music in the background. There’s very little seating but instead of being stuffy, its cozy and intimate, so even if all the tables are filled up (as they were at one point during the dinner) you can still talk to each other w/o having to yell or strain your ears to listen. Oh and hte bathroom was clean and it smelled nice :biggthumb
The service was good. We got there at 6 PM, and the guy asked if we were fasting. Part of our food came just in time to open the fast. Service was quick and courteous, except for when we were waiting for our main dish, i thought that they forgot abt us, we waited so long but then the waiter said that he was waitin for us to finish the appetizers
And finally–the food was great! We ordered two appetizers, lollipop chicken and chicken pakoras, chicken corn soup and the manchurian chicken entree (dry). We each split the soup and entree. My favorite was the lollipop chicken. The entree was good too but since we had filled up on the appetizers, i cudnt’ enjoy it thoroughly They were generous wiht the portions of chicken BUT there was little rice..and the manchuriyan was kinda too salty. But all in all, the food was good. We were stuffed and there was still plenty left over, and still someone convinced me to get the falooda. One bite (or sip or spoonful?) and i seriously felt like i was in pakistan…it was flavored and colored pink with rooh afza with bits of dried fruit (raisins and pista and others) in there. All in all, everything was great.. Very recommended
