In my childhood, initial couple of weeks from summer vacations were always spent at Naani jaan’s place in Mirpur Khas enjoying the hot afternoons and SindhRi mangoes…
It was a similar hot afternoon…
So, all 25-30 cousins of us (Maamoos and khalaaz balooNgRay and balooNgriyaaNz) were out in the big veranda of the house playing while sweating; all the elders were taking nap after the lunch… At one corner, naani jaan’s goats (wish they still had goats!) were sitting under a shadow… And at the other corner, we were having our own party
YES!!! we all were playing with the hand pump and the cold water coming out of it …OoooOOOOooooo … … So few people were pushing the hand pump and couple of us were sitting/standing underneath it to enjoy the water … We were taking turns and switching sides occassionally…
So, It was my turn to push the hand pump along with few cousins (the elder bullies) … All wet from my earlier bath, I tried to show some excitement and tried to push the pump while going all the way above the lever when one of the cousins pulled it up with the same force… Errrrrr… My chin was bleeding… and I had sit down with my hands grabbing my chin… man! … the noises made everyone wakes up and I was given the first aid immediately… but I became real angry at that cousin for the rest of the time until I was given some candies and offered few rides on his Sohraab Bicycle…
Share your summer vacation time stories that are immortal in your memoirs…

Gosh I miss stuff like that, been years since the last time Ive been back. I hope our kids will still be able to experience simple joys like this!
I sleep like hell in summer vacations:vivo:..its always my hibernation period.
n its coming again.
when we used to go for summer vacations to Pakistan ,i was never to be found at my dadi mas home but instead at my neighbors:cb:. we(me and my neighbor) used to play with dolls all day or play on the chath ,that included climbing the walls and coming to my dadi mas house to hers:rotfl:..and the best part abt having vacaton in pakistan is u get to eat all those gandi wali candies:phati:..i love them:fatee:
My best summer so far was last summer. Most people told us we were crazy but during the winter, we got out maps of the USA and planned our 3 week summer trip - driving and camping from New York to Utah, Wyoming, South Dakota and Colorado with our boys, aged 6, 5 and 3. Every single day of the trip brought us new and exciting things to see and do, wonderful people to meet, cowboyz, horseback riding and the most stunning scenery. It was truly the trip of a lifetime. When we got home, I made each of our sons a photo album of the trip and this is still their favorite book and still their favorite topic of conversation.
the houses are too near at my dadi mas place and if u are a thief u can jump to a couple of houses:cb:.
we used to climb up the wall and sit up there:phati:
well, that’s how houses are in most of the places/cities in pak..
in karachi, for instance, there are blocks of 10 houses per row making a street between 2 blocks … and houses in each blocks have their walls joined together …
yes yes yes, well i dont climb trees but the tree at my Daadi’s place is tall enough that a lot of it hangs into the chaTh, so its not hard to get to the fruit
most of our summer vacations are spent in pakistan visiting family. If not that then we take long trips up or down the coast with a couple of paki families, most of the time its fun

ok .. that's a general summer vacation .. any specific story that you wanna share :D?
kuch khaas nahi, nothing exciting happens much, or maybe i cant recall any so here are a few not so exciting tales
i went to KU on an orientation day once, saw how the 1st years were ripped off, poor souls those seniors have no mercy as funny as it was, it was still sad. and i found out why they started selling pepsi in plastic cups instead of glass bottles
once on our way to the beach, our whole khandaan was in a coaster, and this other coaster full of dudes started racing ours, then we all got into it, so did our Chaacho and raced with 'em for quite a while, they won in the end though
ummm, i drank kacha paani at a wedding coz the biryani was too hot, had typhoid for 2 weeks and started hallucinating, that was not fun
oh, and once in Madina, my bro was looking to buy a watch or something, and i said to him in urdu ke yeh banda khamokha’e choRh raha hai etc etc, and to my shock he replied back in urdu telling me otherwise thought me a lesson
*sigh I have the similar stories about madinah which happened to my mother and the sister… The guys was looking a total arab with the attire and the goaty .. and same thing heppened to them:D
u find it funny? and yes, I guess thats what they were trying to prevent form happening, but according to my cousin, when things do get bad, pata nahi kahaN kahaN se dandey and other such tools come out. Allah rehem karey!
Urdu ki darsi kitaboo may, aksar garmion ki chuttion ki kahani hoti thi. Ziada tur gao kay manzar may pesh ki jati thi. They were always fasinating for me. But alas we had no village then.
AQ you are lucky. Mirpur Khas is a lush green area!
we were really young then and like always we were roaming abt in the very safe colony of some paper mill where my nana nani used to reside anyways i think we were coming back home from some of our frnd's place when we heard some noise we were shooooo small lol and guess wot it was it was MAD COW running around lol we started running my younger brother was too young too run fast so we had to take him in goudi which couldnt be done as we ourselves were too small lol nyways some how we made it safely back home :D
