Summer Job Posting: Research Assistant - Web Application Developer
I need a summer Research Assistant. The work will entail design, development and documentation of a web based application that I’m working on as part of a research grant.
The job can be pursued on a part time basis requiring about 15 hours of work a week for about 6 weeks, and I can pay $15-$18 an hour based on the applicant’s qualifications and budgetary approval from my department.
The ideal candidate will bring:
- advanced knowledge of HTML, ASP, JavaScript and MS Access (SQL Server would be a plus)
- intermediate web publishing skills in DreamWeaver or a better HTML editor
- intermediate level knowledge of coding in Java (esp. Applets)
- competent writing skills
- ability to work under tight deadlines
In addition to financial remuneration, there might be an opportunity to collaborate on publications that will come out of this project, but this will require additional efforts beyond the “work-for-hire” agreement. Prospects can be discussed.
Although the applicant can work on the project remotely, it is essential for me to be able to meet regularly for status reports and updates. Since I spend most of my time in Waterloo and Toronto, preference will be given to individuals in the GTA and/or the Waterloo area.
