She is 4 and is out of preschool for the summer. OMG is she a handful Mashallah!
My problem is that I am working all day long these days and so is my sister (her mom). Sumaiya is always with us but she needs more than just playing. She needs stuff to do and stimulation.
Can you guys give me ideas on how to keep her busy and productive? Summer camps have already started and its too late to get her in them…I checked but missed the cut-off. She is starting karate soon but that will be in the evenings most probably for a couple of hours - tops.
What can a 4 year old do during the day that is educational and productive? What can I do to keep her engaged…she is a very active child Mashallah.
U should buy her those doll faces with hair.... Its just a head of a doll... Also buy her cheap make up.... Give her a corner and she can make the doll's hair and apply make up however she wantsYa its not at all educational but its defiantely gonna keep her bz. Ubcan also ger her those coloring books that u use just water for and the color appears itself

I think it's unfair to expect a 4 year old to entertain herself for the most part while the adults are off working for most of the day, even if in the same room. A 4 year old needs to be engaged. It's not fair for HER to have to sit around all day in one area without much interaction. If it were me, I'd take her to a day care where she could interact with other kids and have full adult attention.

Aahmed, we dont want her to entertain herself though and that's why we keep her with us. She doesn't go to a babysitter or even to her grandmother's. We were late for the summer camps but my sister was able to find karate classes for her so she can have fun and interact with other kids. I think its unfair also which is why I was hoping for some ideas on how to make her summer off from school fun and productive. We play with her, take her out to the movies, go for activities, etc...but that doesn't teach her anything nor does it replace her pre-school environment.
