Summer Camps vs. Summer School

Summer Camps - They have all the fruity fun activities. Trip to the movies, Carnival - bowling.

And Summer School is reading, writing and math and more reading, writing and math.

So what’s better for the kids in the summer? Let them enjoy the 2 months they get off or keep them in a structured learning program?

Re: Summer Camps vs. Summer School

My younger 2 will go to summer camp. They need the break and can do some academics at home after camp. My eldest will go to our district's special-ed summer school where they have a combination of scholastics and fun activities. It would be nice if more summer camps were structured that way - part fun, part academics!

Re: Summer Camps vs. Summer School

summer camp - if kids will not enjoy then who will , they can study for the rest of 10 months but for 2 months of summer it shd be just fun & play.

Re: Summer Camps vs. Summer School

I am having a hard time finding any summer camp that has academics except the science summer camp - and it seems a little too advanced for my child that just wants to run around.
