Pakistan's forward Kashif Jawad tackles Malaysian player

Again, Pakistan remain unbeaten with the same good ol' victory formula i.e. penalty corner. Kashif Jawad has not one but two wide-open chances which he couldn't convert it into goal. This is where team lacks consistency when they blew halwa goals. Sohail Abbas's last flick just before the end of game was saved.

If Pakistan has to remain unbeaten, they've got to be more aggressive in attacking against Australia. The defence has been good so far.

Interesting result of Germany-Spain game.

**Azlan Shah Cup : Disciplined act **](http://www.planetfieldhockey.com/PFH/Item-View-11021)

MALAYSIA, displaying a disciplined defence with some attacking moves, held mighty Pakistan to a 1-1 draw at National Hockey Stadium in Bukit Jalil last night.

The Pakistanis were expected to overrun the Malaysians for their fifth straight win.

However, Malaysia could have stunned Pakistan with a rare win if only forwards Ismail Abu and Chua Boon Huat had been sharper with their attempts in the D.

The hosts surprisingly took the lead eight minutes after the break when skipper S. Kuhan scored from the only penalty corner earned.

Pakistan turned on the power after making it 1-1 in the 48th minute via a penalty corner by Sohail Abbas but the Malaysians defended superbly until the end.

“I’m happy with our performance and the result,” said Malaysia coach Paul Lissek.

"It’s one more step forward for us to try and match the top teams in the world especially in our preparation for the Olympics qualifier in Madrid in March.

“We could have even won had our players taken the few chances we had,” said the German.

The Malaysians worked well as a team in defence and attack and it was encouraging to see they could last the whole 70 minutes.

Lissek tried out goalkeeper Roslan Jamaluddin for the first time instead of S. Kumar and was satisfied with his performance although he was not really tested.

Roslan, however, made two saves from Sohail Abbas’ penalty corner attempts. This included a good stop in the last minute to the roar of the 4,000 fans.

The match with Australia ends in a 2/2 draw. Pakistan are through to the finals. :jhanda:

Yahoooooooo Pakistan well Played Australia are a dangerous side.

Pakistan's Muhammad Wasim tries to take control of the ball against Aussie player.

Looking at the goal minutes, Australia had advantage in the first half. Pakistan took the lead in 51st minute, thanks to forward Salim Khalid and Sohail Abbas but it was vapourized in 4 minutes. Something needs to be done there as well. When the team has a goal advantage, they need to captalize the momentum, and don't easy-off

Best of luck to Pakistan in the final. It's either Australia or Germany. Germany drew against Spain by coming behind from 3 goals deficit which speaks volume how good Germans are! Aussies, though, by losing to Spain, have been smooth throughout the tournament, and will definitely put everything online to win the game against Germany to book their berth in the final. A draw will suffice for Germany to face Pakistan for Champions Trophy. I'm positive it's gonna be one hellva game

South Korea and Spain will try to be in the range of 4th place to play for Bronze medal either against Australia or Germany.

Spain 4 India 1
Germany 2 Australia 4
Malaysia 1 Korea 4

This means that the final on sunday will be between Pakistan and Australia.

Australia down Germany, enter final](Australia down Germany, enter final)

In a virtual replay of the 2002 World Cup final, which Germany won 2-1, the Aussies punished their opponents for their mistakes and goals by Michael McCann (14th minute), Travis Brooks (36th) and Grant Schubert (65th and 68th) paved the way for a deserving victory.

Pakistan had already qualified for Sunday’s final after finishing the seven-team league unbeaten, with 14 points.

The Germans, who needed only a draw to advance to the final, were kept afloat by a Matthias Wittahaus goal in the 32nd minute, but then, on the day, the World champions, especially skipper Florian Kunz, committed far too many mistakes against a side that kept its focus.

Though Witthaus knocked in another goal a minute before the final whistle, it was all over bar the shouting.

Australia finished the league with 11 points from three wins and two draws, while Germany ended on 10 after suffering their second defeat. They won three and drew one match.

The Australians played a tight game both in defence and attack, and had their forwards been a bit more accurate, they could well have scored a bigger win.

McCann gave Australia a good start when he put home a Tristram Woodhouse pass midway through the first session, but the Germans equalised close to half-time as Witthaus found the net off Christoph Eimer’s pass.

Thus, with the scores tied 1-1 at the break, the game was on a knife’s edge. But the Aussies got the upper hand when they struck soon after resumption with Brooks pounding in following a free-hit.

Thereafter, the Germans defended well but the pressure told on them as they conceded two goals in three minutes, with the opportunistic Schubert coming up with two neat deflections before Witthaus pulled one back in the final minute.

inshallah pakistan will be victoriuos :jhanda:

Germany lost

Grant Schubert and Michael McCann are the two key players from the Aussies’ side. Pakistan have to drill, create penetrations, share the ball, be aggressive, be defensive, keep the momentum going from the first minute to the last in the Final. It’s going to be a great match up since both teams have good set of potential players. This must also raise eyebrows in the Pakistani camp and should be a wake up call. Australia won’t be an easy team to beat especially since they are on a roll now and must be feeling far more confident. Pakistan havin’ drawn their last two matches wouldn’t be feeling so great though they are in a good nick at the moment. They must mark the Aussie players in the Final and not left them unattended in their half as Pakistan did in league encounter and thats when Aussies scored goals.

Nonetheless, Let’s Roll Green Shirts!
