Quranic Verse : "Don't kill yourself. No doubt Allah (swt) is merciful and anyone who does so, will be pushed in fire. And it is easy for Allah (swt)." (Nisa: 5:29, 5:30)
Quranic Verse : "Don't' kill yourself with your own hands" (Baqra 2:195)
Hadith No.: **"Whoever kills himself with an iron weapon, he will be tortured in hell with the same weapon". (Bokhari)
**Hadith No.: "Whoever strangles himself with a rope, he will keep on strangling himself until being burnt in hell. And he who killed himself with a spear, he will keep on being killed by spear until he is sent to hell." (Bokhari)
Hadith: "Before death, a sick person cut his own fingers due to prolonged sickness and depression. Rasulullah (saw) saw him in dream and he was hiding his fingers. Rasulullah prayed to Allah to forgive him for cutting his own fingers". (Muslim)
Hadith No: "A hypo**crite fighting alongwith Rasulullah (saw) was very brave in the fight but when he was too much hurt, he killed himself with his own sword to avoid pain. Upon this, Rasulullah (saw) informed all that this person goes to hell. He said that there are some who do a few things to qualify for heaven, but they actually qualify for nothing except hell. Similarly, there are some whom everyone considers as going to hell, but they are actually going to heaven." (Muslim).
*****Hadith:* "Rasulullah said there was a person back in time who had a painful acne and he cut his own wound whereby a lot of blood spilled and he died. Allah (swt) said "Heaven is fobidden to him". (Muslim)***Fatwa in Durre Mukhtar: "Although one who commits suicide, will burn in hell forever, but the deceased was a Muslim before doing this act and he will be buried as per normal Muslim traditions. Such a person will be given Ghusl, Janaaza Salaat and burial in a Muslim cemetery as is the case with any other sinful Muslim.*
Re: suicide
^ I am not saying that it's not a sin, and one will not be punished. I am saying that it does not make you a kafir
Re: suicide
yes its a sin and by hadiths i wud understand its haram but abt maghfirat Allah SWT knows better
Re: suicide
That was a serious question. ![]()
Re: suicide
Peace Muzna,
Prophet Muhammad
said (as narrated in hadith) those who kill him/herself will live eternally in hell and in these hadiths, there are no mention of maghfirat. Almighty Allah also says in Holy Quran in may verses that those who killed themselves will taste the hell fire. So in light of Qur’an and Hadith, its clear that there is no maghfirat and those who killed themselves will live eternally in hell.
But there is another hadith that when all ‘Jannati’ will enter ‘Jannat’ and ‘Dozaghi’ will enter ‘hell’, (after short or long period) Almighty Allah will order angels that those who have ‘faith’ i.e. Imaan even its equal to granule may taken out from hell and entered into heaven. Eventually all Muslims ‘except those who committed shirk’ will be entered in Heaven. :). By this hadith we can conclude ‘yes’ there is maghfirat for those too who killed themselve but its depends on Will of Almighty Allah, means we don’t have right to say other pplz ‘yes’ you may go and do suicide b’coz at the end, u’ll be forgiven one day. Prophet Muhammad
said “eternally” so its depends on the Will of Almighty Allah.
Now coming to the part of funeral prayer of a suicider, it is mentioned in hadith that Prophet Muhammad
didn’t offered the prayer of those who commit suicide but He
ordered others Muslims i.e. His
Companions r.a. to offer the funeral prayers. Religious scholar agreed/says upon that the those highly religious Aalims, Scholars don’t offer funeral prayers but let the other muslim (ordinary) to offer prayers of a suicider.
Almighty Allah knows best.

thanks psyah brother........you confirmed my understanding.

Re: suicide
He confirmed that mughfirat of someone that has committed suicide rests with the Almighty and that there is no definite and distinct ruling that suggests otherwise.
He confirmed that there is a tradition of the prophet pbuh not offering janaza salaat for someone that had committed the sin of suicide.
He corrected my understanding that no janaza namaz should be offered.
Re: suicide
Peace Muzna,
He confirmed via pm b'coz I don't see his post here :)

But are these not the rules about almost any major sin?
Re: suicide
But are these not the rules about almost any major sin?
yes...they are.
but there are some that will say suicide will not be forgiven........
Re: suicide
I think that its a known fact that Shirk is the only sin that will not be forgiven,
Re: suicide
Peace,
Yes ‘shirk’ is the only sin that will not be forgiven. But as stated in hadith (narrated from Prophet Muhammad
) that the one who killed him/herself will live in hell eternally, means what?
So at the end its depends on the will of Almighty Allah.
Re: suicide

yes....and some folks believe that since only Allah can determine birth and death, that by interfering with this process one is committing "shirk"........the inference is there.....
LKK,
"eternally" is subjective......in the afterlife a single day may be eternal.......I'm afraid that I cannot use this term to define whether or not a person can be forgiven.
Re: suicide
Peace Muzna,
What I understand 'the Muslims who will thrown in hell will not live there forever. Those who had faith even its equal to granule will taken out from the hell and will be entered in heaven. It's like one must has to complete his or her terms in jail as per his crime. Eventually they'll freed. They will live in heaven but others will see a mark (spot) on their forehead which means before they were in hell.
Re: suicide
But then why we dont associate the same concept of ‘eternity in hell’ with murderers? What about married couples using birth contr9ol? Will they spend time in hell foerver?
If latter is the case then see you there ![]()
Re: suicide
Peace TLK,
According to a hadith in Sahih Bukhari, both murderer and murdered (muslims) will enter in hell except those who repent, believe, and do good deeds and Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful
Re: suicide
I am not talking about entering hell, I am talking about staying there forever (no maghfirat).
