Yes,Suicide in Islam is haram.But after the fact ,like in the story that you told,she is dead & committed the sin & and we can all pray for her forgiveness for in ISLAM,forgiveness is such a big part of the belief as koran,tauheed & the fact that suicide is sin,THAT ,no one can say that even after commiting one would not be forgiven.
As for dream ,it is nothing but what is in our mind,Of course i am talking as amuslim ,& for ordinary peoples.
Prophets ,Sahaba,Khalifa ,may be getting messages from god through dreams ,but i cant wake up & tell you that what i dreamt is what god wants me to do .
You & i dont have that level of spirituality ,we wish.
Mostly we dream what we see ,think & talk about day to day .So obviously what the family is dreaming is what they talk or think or imagine for there daughter.I doubt that they can claim there dream to have message from god any more than you & i can.
I ll like to add somthing about suicide .Somtimes there are severe mental depression & it is due to chemical imbalance (mainly low Serotonin level)Common sense dictates in diseases in this case of the mind ,your judgement ,thinking ,feelings are not normal.In such case we can hope that Allah talla in his grasciousness like we call most benefecient all "subhan o talla "it is optimistically hoped will forgive a non volitional diseased person for the sin.
The reason i say that no body knows of intentions(neyat) which in islam is a big factor.Say there is a flamboyant macho car driver ,he takes too much risk in driving ,may be he is suicidal & willingly puts himself in harms way as a part of DEATH WISH.We may call accident but only allah knows whether or not that person had death wish.what do you think?
