This should be nominated for the “funniest post on GS” Award. But we all know maddy is kidding, right? So, it doesn’t reflect on your intellect.

Re: Suicide Q
Here's my question:
Mr A suffers from terminal illness. His chances of survival are: 1- Negligible, 2-Nil. (Consider them different cases). Mr A's family is poor, and they can't seek much financial help from others. Mr A tells his family that he doesn't want them to spend all the money they have on his treatment, because all it would do is prolong his life (not 'misery') for only a few days, and dry up all their resources. Is it suicide?
What if the person is too old (in his 70s or 80s), suffers possibly from terminal illness, and doesn't want his underprivileged children or relatives to pay for his treatment that might prolong his life for a few months? Is it suicide? The important thing is that the person in question does NOT want to die (even if his kids are praying for his 'relief'), but knows, on basis of medical evidence, that it is unavoidable. All he wants is the 'relief' of people around him. I'd appreciate it if anyone could discuss it (especially the last case) in the light of religious teachings.
