Suicide is a sin in all religions (i mean major religions like christianity, hinduism, sikhism, though there may be some cults who condone it).
I have heard that suicide is a sin in Islam too. But does a muslim man who committed suicide stands chance of going to heaven or he is considered like ‘kafir’.
What happens in situations if a man is having an incurable disease and suffering for long or such siutuations? Are there exceptions?
quran verse 17 33 talks about taking life without a just cause. you can look at that, and if you have tafseer then it may list some hadiths for u.
as for someone who is very ill and wants to die, i have read hadith about this and asked about it, and you CANNOT take your own life because of this. i would quote bukhari for u but i dont remember the hadith number. if you insist then i will look it up for u.
there are many examples in hadith about not allowing to commit suicide under any circumstances, as well as punishment being that u will do the same thing in Hell to urself that u commited suicide with on earth. i dont know if u believe in science of hadith. this is general info i am giving from the little knowledge i have.
best to ask a scholar for elaboration on what islam says.
if i have given any misinformation, may Allah forgive me.
