I thought I could use the help of my fellow Guppies/Guppans and ask you all what you think I can do for you in terms of bringing both World History and The History of the Sub-Continent alive.
I may have a good and broad knowledge on many topics but I by no means am a know it all and there are some of you people here who are better than me and know many aspects better than I do…
Therefore I want any suggestions you might have for the History section. As new Mod I want to actively engage with everyone and do my best to make this a fun and lively forum where all of us can learn from each other.
I am drafting up several basic plans for you folks to enjoy and since for many of us History is a passion I want all the help I can get.
I thank you all for helping breathe new life to this forum… which lets face it was considered pretty lifeless…
So I merely want to gauge whats best for us to all work together and move on to pastures new.
Any suggestions, so long as you are sensible , are most welcome.

don’t have suggestions but a request, my knowledge in history is a big Zero. i want to know the history, lifestyle, victories, defense and war strategies and what ever is important about their personal life and/or regime of** famous monarchs, sovereign, kings, queens, emperors **. anything that makes them different from others.
I would like to trace back the history of Hindustan as far back as possible. That is, do we have any records dataing to say 3000 BC, 4000BC, 5000 BC, and say 8000 BC? Was Ramayan and Mahabharat a myth or are there historic basis for these epics? How large was the Hindustan empire during its glory days? What are the ethncities/origins of people in present day India and Pakistan?
faris why dont u start quizes. multiple choice questions…(without mulitiple choice it could be hard for some people).
u could either do a quiz on pakistan only or all contries together (better would be to do a quiz on each country one by one) and who ever wins can be the king/queen for history section and can help you in juding the next round.
this way ppl will learn a lot…because its not exactly convenient to read 7/8 paragraphs about something…it can bore u.

Your quite right I knew there was something boring about History section, a quiz sounds like a fantastic idea and whats more everyone will learn something in a rapid fire way that is most clever Blessed2006 thanks for that I will get working on a couple of Quizes right away.
I hear you when you say 7/8 paragraphs of writing can be boring my writing style is hardly the most user friendly and perhaps I should find other ways of getting interest in this section.

I have noted the request by Innocent Smile Sister and am begining to compile information and sources relating to Great Monarchs and Historical personalities by this evening I will make my first post on the subject in a new thread in World History section.
With regards to Southie Saabs request about Indian History I am sure he will appreciate how much of a minefield Indian History is and the further back you go the more you have to dig… this will be a massivwe project and will take time to gather resources but nevertheless I will begin this thread in due course and anyone who wishes to help me is most welcome.
For the moment Southie I would perhaps suggest that you visit the following link and join the discussion relating to the Mahabharatha which I’m sure you will like as it was inspired by yourself.
Now Blessed2006 I really liked your suggestion and it was perhaps the easiest task to perform you will find a new thread already created it is a History Quiz on the World Wars and while it may not be that good it’s not bad for a first effort and feel free to give it a go.
I will definately try my best to keep everyone pleased and I think this Suggestions thread will be kept open to anymore Ideas.

In the meantime I have started a thread relevant to Inncoent Smiles request now and the forum is under full swing… Southie I’ll yet get that Indian thread rolling mate… some of the information I have collected is quite intriguing.

1.Rise and fall of muslim league
2. role of revolutionaries in Indian freedom struggle
3. first war of independence 1857
4. history of various movements like civil disobedience, khilafat, quit india etc
5. post independent history of subcontinent, if possible without emotional overload
Aplogies for the long absence folks but yesterday I finally got my new Hard drive and with the bigger memory I can start greater research projects I have also upgraded my library and will be working on posting several threads later on.
Thus far the History forum has been rather random with various posts being made on various topics but I am going to start some serious organisation of the Forums into several sub divisions.
Furthermore I have noted the feedback from all you good folks and History fans and will be starting specific topis to cover the following isubjects you have requested.
Historical personalities…
The Good the Bad and the Ugly theme will run on the various Kings and Queens rulers and so on.
Crime and Punishment through History.
History of peoples and thier movements.
Gangs, Outlaws and the Law.
Finally as requested there will be special threads about the History of the subcontinent.
As this may take some time to collate the information and post it in understandable narrative I ask you to be a little patient with me but the first phase of operations will begin on Thursday and hopefully I’ll do my best.
If there have been any mistakes on my part I sincerely apologise and yeah I missed you guys and it’s good to be back.
Also as usaul any feedback and suggestions are welcome.
