Suggestions for going around (Penn, NJ, Virginia)

Heylo.
Am in Baltimore at the moment… (well, been here for almost two months now)
Got this weekend off from my research.

Wanted suggestions for going around.
Duzn’t have to be in Maryland but any neighbouring states.

Places to visit?
Tourist attractions?
Good food places (halal a must!
etc. etc.

Would appreciate all suggestions… will keep me from getting dead bored in my apartment all by myself.

Ciao.

NY city, battery park mela tomorrow afternoon:)

allright Umar my man, depending on what you are into here is a list of things.

1) Ocean State, Maryland
great beach, can go para sailing, jet skiing, etc etc.

2)Rehoboth Beach, Delaware
Cleaner beach which attracts a younger audience

3) Manayunk, Philadelphia
Great trippy district with clubs, restaurants, stand up comedy places etc

4) South Street, Philly
Urban and original version of Manayunk with loads more to offer, plus its close to Penns Landing..a venue by the Delaware river which hosts tons of events.

5) Philly other items of interest
independence hall, liberty bell, the whole historic district, the japanese gardens (forgot the name)

6)NJ- edison/islin
Shezan restaurant, the best place to eat desi food in NJ.

7)Fairmont park, philly
has classical music under the stars, you just throw the blanket on the grass and sit back and enjoy. Park also has tons of other stuff going on.

8) Boathouse Row, Philly
check out the boat house row and you can event rent a kayak and go rowing alongside fairmont park, center city and Uni of Penn Campus.

howz that for starters

Hmmm... wow Fraudia ma man... kewl info.
I can use this for the next couple of weeks that I'm here for.

And hey ppl... wuts this battery park mela thingy? I'm interested in coming. Gimme more info. Email if you wish... wut time is it? how do you get there etc.

Umar mah man

one more thing. 2 hrs out of philly you have the Poconos mountains. At this time the white water rafting season is gobe, but you can go river rafting or tubing. jump on an inner tube...spend half a day moving along the river..take a walkman, book or a few pals and just relax....they also have horse riding, downhill mountain biking, hiking etc. They have huge and I mean huge facilities for paint ball, and there is a large go-carting place...not a dinky lil go-carting thing u see in the city..and these things move fast too. helmets required.

Philly also has a real good Jazz and blues scene and has tons of bars around.

If clubbing is your gig, check out the following places

The Bank- in an old bank building, kewl crowd, former DJ joint of yours truly. My pal Miko still spins there.

Revival- place opens and closes, if its around check it out. They opened a new bar in that location and I forget the name. Mostly Temple students hangout.

FUBAR- right by Penn campus, college crowd, slightly trendy

Circa: in center city, also in an old bank building, downstairs martini lounge is actually in the former vault and you have to go through the vault doors. Trendy place, good restaurant during weekdays.

Black Banana: after hours club that is open till 3-4 a.m.

Aztec Club: on Delaware avenue, a lot of NJ and Philly italian crowd. good music, but have seen mob guys get busted there as well as gun shots.

Kahunaville: in Delaware, bestplace in that whole state to have fun, just south of wilmington

Rock Lobster: on Delaware avenue, good seafood, good fun.

The Beach Club; place keeps changing names but right on Delaware avenue, has large pools and sand volleyball courts, outdoors/indoors dancing, have attractions like bungee jumping and velcro jumps (as seen on david letterman)

Egypt: also on Delaware avenue. Trendy more professional crowd. good ambience and music.

Assylum: the goth club, "the" club noir of philly. a lot goes on in there ;)

Poly Esther: Like all other Poly Esthers, a 70's club, a lot fo fun, have regional John travolta and Bee gees look alikes contests.

buncha other joints I cant remember, one is a carribean club between 2nd and 3rd street on bank street. decent clubs on manayunk but usually more uncle-ish crowd.

restaurants later.

Yaar Fraudia....hes talking about one weekend. Not retirement:)

Umar...take 95 N.....all the way to the end of NJ......cross over GW Bridge into NYC, take the Harlem River Drive Southbound, blend into FDR drive, and drive all the way down to the exit for South St. Park ur car at a lot, and walk over to the Battery Park, just minutes away, where Statue of Libery ferries take off. Will take u bout 4 hours. Jashn-e-azadi mela is scheduled for tomorrow afternoon. Some guppies are planning on meeting behind the stage at 3pm:) All those interested, plz identify urselves:)
