I am urdu speaking and my parents speak beautiful urdu, but when I speak urdu I sound pathan because of my british accent mixed in with it!
It may just be that.
me and my parents speaks beautiful urdu as well as urs :), and for us tameez tehzeeb, aap, janab are some basic essentials of talking to elders and others..... just hoping for best ..........:S
At least the guy is trying to speak in Urdu to communicate with you.
If he has grown up in the UAE, then I would think he probably speaks english fluently. Is your english the same as his? And if it isn't, maybe his is better or he doesn't have a Pakistani accent... would you be ok with him rejecting you based off of that? You would probably get a little offended.

ok...at the risk of sounding rude and offending the OP......
i just want to say...
it seems that you are a racist .....you prefer aap janaab and perfect urdu to other things...... so you better find some rishta from some urdu poet family........ i mean........ the guy would feel really insulted if you kept teaching him tameez tehzeeb all the time and think of him as a lower being because he is not ''pure'' urdu...
BUT A recent rishta I had - it really annoyed me because the guy was embarassed of my urdu and I found him stupid because this was a reason to reject me,
my english was perfect compared to his I could easily have rubbed that in his face!
language sub kuch nahin hota hai as long as you can communicate
I myself have born n raised in KSA, and me and my family can figure out well if he is stating fact or a story :)
ok, good for u!...but do they grant citizenship to expats?

I have a cousin who married a bahraini of pakistani origin. The guy barely speaks any urdu and when he does, its the pushto style lol. He dressed like an arab, walks like an arab and talks like an arab. Looks totally arab. He does speak punjabi though but i am not sure how good he is at that. So that shouldnt be a basis for rejection in my opinion. But you do have a right to like or dislike the guy and if you arent attracted to him for some reason, its good to call it off but ONLY after you have met him in person.
The best advice I can think off is to get to know him and his family as well as you can!! I cannot stress that enough. Discuss absolutely everything with him and spend time with his mum. Invite them over for meals. Because if you guys do get married then you'll possibly be living out in UAE.
Expatriate settlers in UAE who have been living in the country for many generations are given citizenship but they need to fulfil some conditions like living like Arabs, studying in local Arab schools etc. Expatriate people who got citizenship in this way are not Arabs and don't remain 100% Pakistani with different accent, lifestyle, traditions etc.
Cutemaha, you currently are only bothered with the guy's accent. But when you will meet him and his family, there are chances that you will not be happy since all your life you have lived in Karachi and are used to meeting typical Karachiites and the guy and his family would most probably look like Arabs in their lifestyle, dressing and traditions. I live in UAE and know many such families. Such people lose contact with Pakistani culture and become more of Arabs but the genuine Arab people don't accept such people wholeheartedly since they know the that the origins of these people are not purely Arab.
So Pakistani people who got UAE passport don't remain true Pakistanis with typical urdu/ punjabi accent, lifestyle and traditions. Educated Pakistani families in UAE usually aren't very open to marrying in such families since these 'convert' UAE citizens also prone to marry 2,3,4 times just like local Arabs. These people tend to speak Arabic in their homes, send their children to local Arab schools, move in Arab circle etc.
So be prepared to meet the guy and family with these things in mind. I am NOT saying to reject the guy on this basis. I just wanted to make you aware of these issues.
