ok, so since i am here, i have been facing this problem. Though my skin is very oily but since the day I have come up here, it has turned dry. Infact, very dry. I brought one of the most suitable foundations for me along but its not at all working good here, its giving a dry look too. While in pakistan I could never apply any kind of moisturiser onto my face in winter because it used to create acne and pimples but here I thought to use it & its working good too but the oily look gives a dark complexion impact. On the other hand, I really need to have some foundation/ base for my skin but dont know which would work best according to the weather and my skin, both. I am posting here in hope, if anyone of you can comeup with some good suggestion or solution and also with reasonable cost.

I have really dry skin too and have the same problem with most foundations. I recently started using the vitamin E moisture mask from the body shop, and its worked really well! It makes my foundation look much better too x

If your skin is oily you need a foundation that gives a dewy effect. Almost every brand does a dewy foundation. Try Bobbi Brown, Clinique, Chanel or even Estee Lauder. Before buying one put some on the side side of your cheek and check it after a few hours. Oh and for the oiliness try using a powder compact ( again almost every brand does that too). Some loose/ pressed powder on top of your foundation might do the trick.

^my skin is originally oily but here in UK, it has turned to be very dry!! now, its no more oily! can I still follow your suggestion??

Have a look round the makeup counters in Debenhams, Selfridges etc.. The sales assistants are usually really helpful.. Maybe ask for some free foundation samples so you can go away and try them at home for a few days.. They are usually happy to give trial samples in a jar or mini sizes.. Clinique practically throw them at you :D

use the clinique liquid facial soap .. pat ur face dry n then apply the clinique scruffing lotion

my skin is pretty dry too - got quite bad recently but ive been using the nars tinted moisturiser and its made a massive difference, it provides pretty good coverage too.
its also good to work on your actual skin also as someone else mentioned, use a good moisturiser and i also find applying a hydrating mask before hand helps foundation to sit better - my personal fav is the aveda tourmaline one...

Yup, its jst a mask. I tend to leave it on overnight, and it really helps with dry skin, and my my foundation goes on much better after ive used it x

queen I have similar problem as yours but mine is even worst..My complexion gets wayyy darker in the UK!! I dont know why and I cant help it! Does anyone know how to prevent skin getting dark and dull?

Yesterday I went to John Lewis & checked with the Clinique and Bobby Brown, they have suggested me some good foundations. None of them could provide me the testers though :(
