Re: Suggestion for PMs

^ Kaptaan jee, bolding/debolding works with **received **messages. She is talking about sent messages to others. In other words, I think she’s talking about when she sends me a message and I don’t reply even after 5 days, she can go to her sent items folder and if the message is highlighted, it has been read by me but I just didn’t reply and if it is not highlighted, that means I have not read it yet. Or vice versa. She just wants to track the sent messages.

If I am wrong, then :smilestar: to billi aurat.

Re: Suggestion for PMs

Shikra, you're right - thats what im talking about.

Re: Suggestion for PMs

Catty, I still dont get what you’re talking about :bummer:

Re: Suggestion for PMs

You know 'sent messages' Gizzy? Say I send a message to you, and once you've read it, it appears in another colour in my sent messages folder - so I know that you've read it. Just like in my inbox, once I read a message its not highlighted anymore.

Ab samaj main aya?

Re: Suggestion for PMs

ahaan yes.

Well we already have one such feature but that option is only available to mods/admins only :)

It can be turned on when sending a PM and once the recipient has opened the PM then the sender of that PM receives a confirmation (read receipt). Just like in Outlook/Outlook Express and other e-mail clients.

Re: Suggestion for PMs

Yeah I remember - the request receipt one - thats also flawed however, because the receiver has the option of sending confirmation or not. And even as a mod I found that a bit bothersome to use.

Re: Suggestion for PMs

well aren't you infringing on someone's privacy by requiring that you see whether the recipient has read the message…

this is the reason why “Request Receipt” and “Confirm Receipt” are typically incorporated as options in all major email applications such as Outlook, Eudora etc.

I for one may not want the sender to know that I’ve read his/her message if I’m too busy… sometimes, on a busy day, I read messages and flag them for reply over the next day or so.

Re: Suggestion for PMs

Yep, i would not want anyone else to know if im reading their message or not. That would be against the rules of invisible browsing :grumpy:

Re: Suggestion for PMs

My work e-mail client is groupwise. I don’t get a receipt when the recepient has read my message; instead, there is an envelope icon right next to the recipient name and if the e-mail has been opened by the recepient, the envelope is open. Otherwise it is sealed. If you open the message and check the properties, it also tell you when the message was opened, when the person replied, forwareded, deleted etc.

I like that feature. Here’s an image:

Re: Suggestion for PMs

^ I also use Groupwise at work Shikra… and its one of those email clients that have a plenty of options… see below:

but again, the Notify options only work if the recipient opts for it.

Re: Suggestion for PMs

^ I think we are using a different version. Our send options look different. I love the one where you can delay the delievery. I send reminders to my boss in advance and then I don't have to worry about sending one on that day.

Re: Suggestion for PMs

Oh well, it was just a suggestion. :)

Re: Suggestion for PMs

^ no no, catty, I like your suggestion. But if we don't get enough votes, then it can't be implemented. I am no one to make that decision, but I am putting my 2 cents in.
