**i’m planning to travel to Pakistan in the fall. i plan to take the train to and from Lohore and Karachi.
i recently read somewhere that Pakistan does NOT allow foreigners to take the surface route because it’s too dangerous. i believe that’s for white people who are easily identifiable. since i can easily blend in with the local population so would that ruling apply to me too? i worry what if something happens out of the normal and i get caught…would that be a cause of concern?
what do you think guys? i really wanna see Pakistan up-close, meet the real people and interact with them. your suggestions would be greatly appreciated. thank you in advance.
if you have a foreign passport (not pakistani) then you wont be allowed out of certain areas
ie the ones stated on your passport,usually you get a three city visa,but check it out
trains, buses,planes can all be dodgy now adays...
but if you have some one with you a local trusted friend /family thr shouldnt be any problem.....

planes dodgy? i think aviation industry within Pakistan is pretty safe. i agree with you that travel can be dangerous overland within Pakistan. i haven't heard any terrorist incident where trains were involved so i suppose its relatively safer than buses. :)**
wow this is the first time i have heard that the pak train wont allow foreigners. bas ehtiyaat karne ko kaha jata hai matlab chokanne rahain aur apne ird gird nazar rakhain…kyon ke jo local chor uchakkay hotey hain un ke liye bahar se aye hue logon ko bewaqoof banana asaan hota hai. lekin tum desi lagte ho tou i am sure insallah tume koi prob nahi hogi…not saying that only foriegners are their shikaar they do it on desi’s too but foreigners ko pehle phansatey hain.
train se koi masla tou nahi hona chahiye…train passport mangti hai kya?
mera mashwara yeh hoga ke zaroor jao…u will love this journey of yours bas throughout your journey be extra careful…i mean dont act as if you dont know the place at all or you are lost.

well inshallah trip ek dam fit aur theek thaak hoga. past main aisa koi waqaya sunne main nahi aya tou mujhe umeed hai ke agay bhi sab theek hoga.
