On SKY TV, channel 880, you can get Bhangra music on Punjab Radio. Last night (Saturday between 8-10pm) the Dj was kicking in some hardcore UK Bhangra tracks. I don't know whats normally broadcast the rest of the time but if you want the freshest tracks and the latest lowdown on the UK Bhangra scene then tune is to the show every Saturday night (GMT). The show is broadcast on the net too, just click on www.punjabradio.co.uk
Mr. Fraudia, I gotta agree with you all the way... UK Bhangra scene is pioneering...these yanks have got some catching up to do.
As for any recomendations, well it looks like you are already in tune with whats going on. I haven't really got into the industrial bhangra wave yet but some of the tracks played last night were right on the money... fusion at its best. Pure, bold and in yer face, know't I mean 'arry! I will check out the ones you have listed, I'm sure I won't be disapointed...sounds to me like you are a real connoisseur.
I am not really into bhangra per say but I like the direction of some desi musicisn which have crossed over and brought a diff kind of fusion. I like bhangra but get more excited about cornershop.
anyways check out bobby friction's program on beeb

and not a real connoisseur. I used to DJ back in college and developed a taste for fusion back then. mix of sitar and tabla with moogs and loops..throw in some bass guitar now and then..
Those days are long gone but a good fusion experiment always gets me going.
ever heard the song "you tell teh story" by The Farm? only english ghazal that i know off :)

Mr Fraudi.. will check out the beeb as suggested. Haven't heard of The Farm but will look into it.
LIke you, my bhangra days are well and truly over... but some of the new sounds are getting me going again. Speaking of Fusion in general, I was lucky enough to see Nithin Sawhney when he supported Sting at the Royal Albert Hall a couple of years ago. Since then I have been getting more and more into Fusion but nothing really hardcore (or industrial)... I guess I am too mellowed out these days (old age creeping in).
btw.. Najma Akthar is doing a short tour of clubs/theatres in UK next month. The reviews sound promising, I am planning to catch her 'fusing' her stuff at the Bull in Barnet on April 24th.
just yesterday i downloaded a song by RDB (apparently) but when i played it, it was actually someone's mix of eminem's "lose yourself" and panjabi MC's mundian to bach ke.
it was actually pretty good :)

has n e 1 mentioned Mc Metz & Trix - Sah Ruk Dha? it's decent.
I would have loved to check her show, except like sting says. I'm an alien, I'm a legal alien, I'm a englishman in newyork..well chicago actually so i only get to experience the brit asian scene thru cd's or firsthand when I come back home.
Joi is back, well one of the brothers died so its a solo act now really, but its a depeche mode meets nitin saehney music..very kewl ambient with just a lil touch of desi stuff. check it out.
