Suggest a foundation please.

Hi!

I am a Pakistani with a combination skin. Oily around the nose and dry around the mouth. I have open pores too. I’m so tired of trying an buying new foundations. They either look too cakey on me and don’t last for long.
I heard of MAC studio fix powder plus foundation that it covers beautifully. Any suggestions? I’m not sure if this would suit me.

Any suggestions pls?

Thanks

Re: Suggest a foundation please.

Have you tried a tinted moisturizer instead? If you have dry flakes that heavier foundations tend to cake up try a water-based foundation like MAC Face & Body. I have skin prone to dryness and flakes and thicker foundations are a nightmare to work with for that reason and MAC F&B is the only one which I have gotten to work for me. Since it's water-based, it lasts for ages but it also doesn't accentuate dryness or flakes and never looks cakey.

^ :k:

try MAC they have a really good range of various type sof foundations. I wear a mineralised one which feels like I have nothing on, its that light but it looks awesome…

I have forgotten the exact name of it though (will go home and check)

Re: Suggest a foundation please.

I tried MAC's studio fix fluid foundation but it turns me tan and doesn't hide the pores.

Re: Suggest a foundation please.

^ u might need to go one or two shades lighter.

A MAC sales assistant at the singapore airport outlet pointed this out to me that foundation goes a bit darker after applying.. so go two shades lighter... and Ive always followed that rule (no matter her persistant the MAC girls here are in Australia).

Re: Suggest a foundation please.

A water-based foundation is less likely to oxidize.

Re: Suggest a foundation please.

i remember tryin mac’s numerous foundations about 2 yrs back and all of them lukd cakey to me so yah i had never recommend them 2 anyone :nono:…i like mac’s other stuff like lipglosses, fluidline, etc but def not the foundation!

Re: Suggest a foundation please.

how about lancome and bobbi brown?

Re: Suggest a foundation please.

I love Laura Mercier's Silk Cream and Creme Smooth foundations, they don't oxidize at all. Bobbi Brown foundations are great as well. For powder foundation, I absolutely love Dior's and Laura Mercier's mineralize powder comes second (it's got the best coverage without drying out skin or looking cakey/powdery).

Re: Suggest a foundation please.

If you have combination skin that's oily in some areas and dry in others, that's perfectly normal and you can pretty much wear any foundation depending upon what look you're trying to achieve. Are you going for a dewy/glowy finish or do you want to look matte? how much coverage do you need? MAC's studio fix powder in my all time favorite, regardless of what foundation I wear underneath, I always set my foundation with that powder. What you can do is use MAC's face and body foundation like M_was_here suggested because it won't make you drier, and where you are oily you can use some studio fix powder on top. I don't think there's any foundation that can make a big difference in how your pores look...what I do if I really want to minimize my pores is press the sponge into my skin when applying powder.

Re: Suggest a foundation please.

^That's a great idea! Also, just apply a pore-filling primer in the area w/ big pores and tap on the foundation using a sponge.
