I was wondering how you guys feel when you start a thread and then you comeback to GS after sometime and find that thread is not there .Then you send queries to Mods , only to find out that it has been deleted( For valid or unvalid reasons).
Shouldnot there be a mechanism, where If a thread is deleted then atleast the initiator of thread should be informed (either by PM or email).
yes its annoying not only who start the thread....
In fact I was reading this thread titled "How ugly r u" and when I tried to add a reply I think it was closed or deleted because my reply was not allowed....which is a shame since it was an interestign thread because of the controvertial topic. Anyway so I started a new thread and said what i wanted to say in there.
It depends on the nature of the thread which was deleted. Once it descends into abusive language and name-calling then it's just going to get deleted and no there is no obligation to PM the person who is responsible.
There has been a mechanism put in place for questions such as this - Feedback Forum so you can take up such queries there. Same rules and regulations apply though.
i made new threads they got deleted too so i am posting mymessage in other threads.....I am determined to say what i have to say!
This post is in reply to the thread "how ugly r u"
Well said undercover. I think it is good that you said what you said on the board and not just via PM (as the mod suggested). This way we all get to see your opinion, and I liked reading your opinion.
I am indifferent in that I like to read the serious and the jokes .....so saadia maybe you should cool down (no harm intended I say that in a nice way)
Delete what you can moderators but the message will live on....!!!
What was the point in deleting the thread "how ugly r u"?
You can't go around deleting anything you don't like mr moderator...and don't cite any rules to your defense, change the rules so that thread is allowed!

Xtreme,
I am not debating the wisodm of deleting a post.If a thread desreve to be deleted then it should be done. However even if thread turned into a abusive ,ugly thread still the owner of thread needs to be informed. He may not have played any role in those abuses and he has the right to know.
I understand that this could be a additional work for Moderatorw who are always kept busy by us.In that case www.guspshup.org is should have in-built mechanis so that whenevr a thread is deleted a system generated notification is sent to the person who started it.It will avoid lots of confusion.
Just an idea !!!!
Xtreme, Just keep this thread in General forum so that we can get opinion of many people. No one really visits Feedback forum.
Thats actually a good suggestion. If there is an automated way in which the system can generate such a message, it would be best. I don't think mods should spend any time more than necessary to fix inappropriate posts.
In the new version, when a thread is moved from one forum to another, usually an indicator is left in the original forum so the thread-starter is not left wondering what happened. However, this doesn't work when the thread is deleted.
I get your point, but Mods don't always have time on their hands to keep deleting posts one at a time. We do our best though to try and preserve the original thread and it's generally only threads which are against Gupshup policies to start with that get deleted wholesale.
The built in mechanism you are talking about I have no idea about. It's something we can look into whether it's viable or not but again, this is a site run by volunteers and there are several issues which are being looked at so it's a case of priorities. Thanks for your suggestion though.
As for leaving this in General, this Forum was created specifically so GS members would have a dedicated forum to give their ideas rather than PM's or e-mails. Other forums are not meant to be used for this purpose. I left the link in general so people can get to this directly. More than this, i don't think we can do.

Thanks for your input. Very well presented.
