Sugar

Re: Sugar

what happens when ur sugar level gets too low too frequently? is there any long term damage done?

Re: Sugar

Sara, diabetes usually is result of 'unhealthy' lifestyle. You should consult your doc (for you mom) and understand what's good and whats bad. Low sugar level is def not good and there are countless long term damages, worst is gangrene (sp?). Avoid stress and walk a lot, use your legs as much as you can. Do not cut your toe nails your self and watch out for any new mark on legs or feet.

Dabetes doesn't 'hurt' so we tend not to take it seriously.

Re: Sugar

Strongly dissagree with your statement. With due respect.

Diabetes is NEVER a result of unhealthy lifestayle. It can happen to anyone and any age. Even at birth and even on a temporary period of time. Yes people with over weight status are more likely to get it and specially with a family history of diabetes.

Diabetes hurt BIG TIME. Only the one who is going through it knows. Its a silent and slow killer. Besides all other symptoms .. the healing power of a diabetic person is reduced to a eye opening level. A slight cut can turn into life threatening bed sore.

One of the most common HURT is the loss of taste. Imagine. Constant monitoring and proper diet and regular medicine can DELAY the process.

Also anxiety may accelerate the bad symtoms. Try not to make them worry about things arround. Due to the lack of taste in the mouth , generally diabetics people become short tempered and sensitive.

Good Luck
