Sugar ki bimari

So we hear about this term “sugar ki bimari” what’s the actual medical term for this? Diabetes? What steps can be taken to lower the sugar and can this eventually go away? What foods should one try to consume less of, and more of?

Re: Sugar ki bimari

Sugar = Diabetes.

About what steps can be taken:
It depends on the severity of your diabetes. If its type1, which is usually in kids then you are on Insulin lifeterm. If Diabetes 2, which is in older people then we try to give medicines to increase the levels of Insulins but if the Beta cells of your pancreas fails to produce Insulin later in the stage then they also get Insulin shots.

Re: Sugar ki bimari

Insulin.

It also depends what stage diabetes you have.

Re: Sugar ki bimari

What's the normal level it should be at for an adult in the his 40s early 50s? Or age doesn't matter at all when looking at the level.. (ie: 8, 16..etc)

Re: Sugar ki bimari

Diabetes can occur in any person who does not maintain a healthy diet, and escalate if not treated or controlled early. Often leading to Dialysis.

How is it measured is what I was referring to when I said levels... what is the normal "level" a person must be?

Normal sugar level falls between 80-125mg. Anything less than 60/50 mg is an indication of hypoglycemia/low blood sugar level. I believe it goes same for all ages. Don't quote me on age for infants and kids, will find out and let you know.

Teggy what do you think?

Re: Sugar ki bimari

^Right.

Normal blood glucose level may be between 80-140 mg/dL.

For most people, good blood sugar levels are:

**On waking up (before breakfast) 80 to 120

Before meals 80 to 120

2 hours after meals 160 or less

At bedtime 100 to 140**

Re: Sugar ki bimari

hmmm weird... someone i know has recently been diagnosed with this that's why i was curious..

the numbers the device shows when they test is around mid teens, nowhere near 80. maybe different measurement?

Re: Sugar ki bimari

How it effects each person can differ. Ideally you should visit your doctor and ask him/her to determine what your blood glucose level should be. Then you can get a range specific for yourself (or whoever it is)

mid teens? :/ how old is that person? and in what units the device that u the level of sugar?

If its in teens then person shouldnt even be sitting checking it :S

Re: Sugar ki bimari

that's what i think it is, different units. not sure.

Re: Sugar ki bimari

It really depends, i have seen young people on dialysis.

Diabetes doesn't lead to dialysis, but it's a mother of all diseases! Not all diabetics go thru renal failure, diabetes affects several organs of the body including the kidney's..

in UK and europe its measured in mmols not in mg (like in pak and US)

4 - 6.5 is normal

i want to add, lot of stress, continuous less sleep and family history also counts to get this thing early in life.

my both parents developed type II after late fourty's but I got this in early 30's a year ago. I take tablets, a balanced diet and some exercise to control it. so far its been under control.

balanced diet, sleep, light execise are good to keep it under control.

stay away from sugary and high fat/oily stuff, and take fruits, fibre, coulored fish(fresh salmon, sardine)

There are, lets say, 2 classes of Diabetes

1) Diabetes Mellitus Type 1 & 2: problem with Insulin making/secreting.

2) Diabetes Insipidus:
a) Nephrogenic Diabetes Insipidus: In this diabetes, kidneys are unable to conserve water. Leading to polyuria/polydipsia.

b) Neurogenic Diabetes Insipidus: The hormone that is used and act on kidneys to cause less urine output, basically not working. Its a problem in the pituitary gland directly instead of the Kidney.

So, yea, If there is a kidney problem then definitely expect to have Diabetes Insipidus [Nephrogenic] but not Mellitus. Sugar level might be normal but the function of conserving water will be lost.

Re: Sugar ki bimari

1 and 2 or common i guess, type 2 is more common.

Re: Sugar ki bimari

Type 1 is common in kids. Its like they have auto-immune deficiency against their own beta cells, which produce Insulin. Thats why they end up getting insulin shots in their early ages.

Type 2 is common in old ppl, usually after 40 yrs of age. It can be controlled thru diet for at least 10 max yrs and then you can start taking medicine to be on the safe side. Yes, in type 2, depending on how severe is ur Diabetes and how early it is caught, Insulin can be avoided.

dude! that's really really high. i hope the person know which type of diabetes it is, and knows how to control it now.

if they are using the type of monitor that's most commonly available in Canada, then normal range in that is about 5-6/7. anything higher than that is a cause for concern in a diabetic patient.

:smack:
Thats HBA1c. It has to be normal between 4-6 or 5-7. Its done after every three months and its more accurate to check compare to everyday needle pricking in your finger. Those needle pricking will tell you your sugar level only for that day but not as in how your body as a whole responding to your blood sugar level. HBA1c is done after every 3/4 months because the Red blood cells die after 3 months and those RBCs bind to sugar as well.

If HBA1c is higher than 8.0 percent than its a bad sign.
On a daily basis checkup, normal blood sugar level should be between 70-125mg.

Hope it makes sense.
