since last whole week i m suffering from this reading block and cant seem to concentrate or focus on any reading material. In this coming month i have to turn around two research paper and one survey paper and obviuosly for that i have to go through a lot of already written papers and books. After that i might have to deal with the writing block but first thigns first. All was well since last satruday and the work was going smooth but suddenly i have lost the will. Any totkaas, tricks to help me out here?
I have gone through some really tough reading and writing blocks in earlier years but this one is a really long one.
I didnt even know 10 worked (as I am not a competitive person) until one day, one of my friends/acquaintance asked me to study with him (he was one of the top students in school) in the library for some exam we were about to have. I am one that studies at last minute so I didnt care to study but went along to keep him company. Then he asked me what page I am on in reading, and I was around the second page and he was on page 4. So I didnt like that I was reading so slow compared to him…so every half an hour or so I’d ask him where he is in the book, and I found out I was ahead of him later. It was weird, I started competing, eventhough normally I fall asleep in libraries and cant read for long periods of time. Yes, I did absorb the information (Mash’Allah), atleast long enuff for da exam. It was quite an experience, but it worked in that it made me want to read. hehe. smile
Saby, like Munni said, try reading something you enjoy to get you back into the habit. Also, try making notes whilst you're reading to ensure you're absorbing the information.
Munni-- thanks a lot, some of your advices are out of question straight away like going on drives and out of station. 3 i tried already and other book was so intersting i couldnt feel like let going. 5 is the best thing and i m trying it. 6 is another good option because nothing is better than sympathetic ear. 8- parents are only intersted in results and they can pray for sure. 9 is the hardest thing and i am not succeeding in it yet. Thanks for advices.
