What could be a reason for a sudden personality change in a normal healthy adult. I know no drugs or substance abuse is present. There don’t seem to be any health issues… Doesn’t it usually mean something is bothering them?

On a more serious note.....how do you know for sure there are not health problems? Maybe it could be a psychological problem....depression or bipolar disorder.
Maybe external sources are the factor (financial/relationship problems)
Could be a variety of possibilities. You'd have to talk to the individual to get a clearer answer.

nobody has 1 personality with everyone, everytime...I know that in some classes some people think I'm quiet, and others people thing think otherwise in other classes, other people think I'm mean and selfish, and others think I'm genersous and nice...We act differetntly at different times with different people. Doesn't necessariy mean we're on drugs or have multiple personality d/o.

We don't have split personalities (very obvious personality change) unless there is something wrong with us. This could be something simple like just a bad day or it could be more serious ie bipolar. If this is something you are very concerned about and you are close to the person why not try to identify what may be bugging them or try to speak to somebody very close to this person?

"sudden personality change" - could be caused by depression causing withdrawal from all...
but that's just one aspect.
You need to tell us more on what changes you've seen.

Let them you care for them and that you're there for them if they need to talk.
And then give the person space because people handle their problems differently, DB. Some people don't think twice about sharing their problems, talking things out calms them down and helps them think more clearly. Other people are more private and prefer to solve their problems on their own. And if we keep asking the person to share their issues with us....they may become annoyed. So, let em know you're there if they need to talk...and back off.

The question is very vague. Sudden as in minutes, hours, days?
Over few minutes or hours, reason should be obvious to other person.
Change over few days, women have prefect alibi and men are not allowed, ever! :(

I think this person may be bipolar... cuz I have seen sudden ups and downs... and I have seen signs of depression...
...Yes I am going to leave them alone for a bit to make sure I am not adding another feather to their mountain of problems...

anyways, sometimes people exhibit sudden personality changes because something can be happening in their personal lives, but we need more information about this person.. how was he/she before and how are they now? what do you think is going on? and why?

This person was awesome... always on the go... all of a sudden they are down... and have been secluding themselves...
