Like, it happens out of the blue, no trigger whatsoever and the pain starts at the top of Big Toe (before the nail) - 10-15 seconds spike…separated by a minute or two…and then it stops like 3 minutes after…
and then no pain for like a day or two or even 5-6 days.
And the pain seems to be like just below skin…like not in the middle of the bone…
also, it happens only on left foot… nothing at all on the right foot…and yea, no injury and stupid shoe issue…
sounds like a neuropathic pain (nerve pain). its possible one of the nerves supplying your big toe is inflamed (irritated) for some reason causing short bursts of electric current like pains. If you are able to move your toe fully and it does not feel weak or heavy than the problem is most likely affecting one of the sensory nerves. Any past injuries in this area? I'd recommend seeing your Doctor. The problem might just go away after few days as the nerve regenerates, but if it persists you may need an ultrasound scan of soft tissues of your foot, plus or minus nerve conduction studies and some baseline blood tests to rule out medical conditions that can affect peripheral nerves though any secondary causes seem to be unlikely.
thanks...no injuries...... i am gonna wait it out i guess.......blood work etc was done recently...everything was normal...... i do get slightly elevated blood uric acid sometimes...but rest are always ok..
anyhow...thanks for your response.......btw, what type of doctor to show this....if this gets worse??
It could also be due to an in-grown toe nail maybe. Are you sure the nail is not growing in.. It could also be some nerve pain. It is important for one to take some calcium and multivitamins once a while. Try that too.
