Like heaven!
Re: Substitutes of Adrak lassan
I think high Brahmin cuisine does not use lahsan, or pyaaz, but they do use adrak. And mustard seed and hing. I hate hing.
What about pyaaz? You gotta problem with pyaaz?
Re: Substitutes of Adrak lassan
heeng actually has a similar flavor profile to onions provided you heat and stink the hell out of it for a bit in oil. but i doubt it'd go well with meat.
Re: Substitutes of Adrak lassan

I have a problem with pyaaz cuz of the amount of time it takes in reaching the stage where it is Golden brown but well that problem can be solved by preparing it beforehand in large amounts and storing it :D
Re: Substitutes of Adrak lassan
But do you really not like lahsan-adrak? OR you just don't like your house to smell of it? Because if it is the latter, you can fry them outside. On a campstove or if you have a good BBQ, a sideburner...

If you don’t have the time to bhuno the necessaries for a dish, don’t make it. If it doesn’t give you joy to do it, don’t do it. Life is too short, and you have stuffed it too full. If food really doesn’t matter enough to you, try frozen Minute Khana.
Re: Substitutes of Adrak lassan
erm ... i wonder why you have to fry it so much ... if you use it fresh then yes its a hassle ... but if you use frozen ones , it takes a few seconds and it gets done , with no lingering smell.....
also try doing garlic first and then after a minute add in the ginger .. that should sort out the issue for you.. let me know if that isnt working and we will think of a way ...
