Any substitute for capers? I wanna make garlic shrimp in tomato sauce and it calls for capers but I havent got any… is there a good sub for it? Or must I go out to the store?

Leave out capers, they taste horrible. (well I think so anyway). You know shop bought tartare sauce (NOT mcDonalds!) it has that horrible capers taste in it, so if you don't like the taste, leave it out! The world will be a better place without capers. I would just use some herbs.

I went out and bought some anyway... I happen to LOVE the taste of capers... its not very different from green olives... im assuming you dont like those either?

The best substitute for capers i find is green olives, similar salty tartness…maybe add a little lemon juice to match it further…

I LOVE green olives (go very well with the cheese board) but I do NOT NOT NOT NOT NOT NOT NOT NOT NOT like capers. They taste foul. The world would be a better place without them.

i eat cheese and crackers everyday at tea time, have done since i was wee. i also love green olives. I HATE CAPERS.

closest would be pickled snow peas/sweet peas but they are not easy to find.
use green olives and tamarind to give more tartness to the entree, I would suggest that you chop the green olive into smaller bits though, because left full size they will def impact the taste and texture of the item. capers are tiny.

^ I like the idea, but thing is I won't have any capers at my place. I suggest we go to all of those caper lovers houses and take the meat tenderisers with us. We'll show them what they can do with their capers.

Listen you, just bcos we don't like capers, it doesn't mean that we don't appreciate some rocket in our salad, artichokes dipped in french vinaigrette dressing with dijon mustard, or asparagus with salmon and hollandaise.
