So what exactly is style?
I think I have great style, and I love how I dress. But some people have said I don’t know hwo to do makeup, I don’t have style, I don’t know how to dress, and I’m an ABCD coz I wear salwar kameez one day and jeans and a teeshirt hte next day. But I don’t care :p, the majority of those ppl r jealous, I know it. So…my original question: hwo do you define “style” ?

If people start to immitate your style of dress, then you probably have it. If they are all geeks, then you probably don't.

But is imitation a factor in determing if you have style? I prefer to stand out from the crowd, and you know how hard that is in Pakiland/paki-circles? Everyone wants to dress alike, and it's rather annoying. No individuality

you are talking to a brit. here if you dont have straightened black hair and your uniform doesn't consist of black jacket, straight tight jeans, stilleto heels and a shed load of foundation - you aren't even considered naturalllll.
But still. If youlike what you wear screw the world.

Hmmmm… Well there’s different types all around here. The look you stated, there’re a ton of girls who wear that, and theres a ton of grls dressed like one of Jay-Z’s video hoes. Then there’s a ton of those who dress like bums, with sweats and flip flops and PJs, or the ones wearing salwar kameez etc.
Okay one thing… is being consistent part of having “style”? I literally have about 4-5 different looks everyday. Salwar kameez Monday, “professional” Tuesday, bum Wednesday etc etc… I like what I wear, but I get irked at ppl saying I have no style coz I change it up once in a while.

Sara - c'mon, you aren't going to please everyone. Wear what makes you comfortable and the let the rest of the world think what they wish. I've seen your pics, you're great. You look very nice and coordinated.
Who do you dress to please? Everyone else or yourself?
I dress according to my mood, somedays barely neat, others I am corporate America in suit with heels.
You make your own style, that's what makes you you.

really? bump that. my wardrobe is sweatpants, hoodie, running shoes/flip flops. dressing up for me is jeans and heels, sometimes a skirt, and this is once a week maybe not even that

Minah :D I like how I dress but I have my doubts sometimes. But then I have to remember the source of these comments and I'm instantly better :D . I posted here though, coz i want other ppls opinions on what they think "style" is....

Yeah soo u mean they think ur a FOB for wearing shalwar kameez to school..
I used to wear shalwar kameez to school 2 at times and some times alot.. it wasnt bad caz everyone knew me and were cool with it, I mean i came to the states when i was like 2 so i wasnt Really a FOB i just dressed like one Hahahahaha.. but i guess i got through that phase and now i think about it, i was like how the heck could i wear shalwar kameez to school.. but they were sooo comfortable. Eh its all part of growing up experiencing different things, anywayz go with whatever u think is cool dont let others tell you otherwise... JUST my .02$ :)

Sayonne-- nobody thinks I’m a fob. On teh contrary, my friendmakes fun fo me for not being desi enough and confused 
And my cousins, said I had no sense of style and that my designs aren’t that great… So I know the source of these opinions are just bullsiht… On another note..I used to think wearing salwar kameez to school was ridiciulous..but now..

Sara - we have Professors here that wear salwar kameez, no one cares. I tis a part of your identity, if you like it, just wear it. In the early 80's one of my best friends used to wear one everyday to high school, she had been in America about 2 years and I always envied her. She always looked so feminine and elegant.

to me: style is wat i do .. n my own fashion .. i wear faded jeans or aberocombie khakhi and T one day the next day i wear ma sean baggie with the jersy on .. so JUST BE REAL.
but i mean shelwar qameez in school .... u dont need to get that ghetto .. i mean bieng connected to ur culturel roots is one thing but acting like a FAG is another.
like this BENGALI wore shelwar qameez in our school n all thez black nigaz came up to me asked me wat we call it .. n then they started chantin ** MOTO SHELAR AMEEZ maa ** ( moto shelwar qameeez mien) :S

^ Salwar kameez as everyday weaar looks hot on girls, not on guys so dun be jealous :p… And I don’t wear it everyday, Ive only worn it twice ever and both times this month. I just feel it may be more comfortable to wear in teh summertime since shorts and tank tops and even longer skirts aren’t an option and neither is jeans :yukh:

yeah i was anything but a Fob and wore Shalwar kameez. My school was predominantly white and i was tyte with most of the peepz, I mean to most of them it doesnt matter what u wear, u just gotta keep it real.. and yes i do think now it did look a bit weird but it was M.S / begginning of H.S soo it didnt really matter.. Plus its who you are that matters not what you wear...
oh yeah and if it makes you guys feel better i do shop at Abercrombie, Bananna Rep, Aero, Express all those nice places that yall mentioned... Soo its just a matter of preference and taste.. Anywho middle eastern style tunnicks are in these days:)
