Style of desi clothes while pregnant..

Not sure if this thread belongs here or in Parenting but I am having a nightmare trying to order clothes for my cousin’s wedding in two months. I am pregnant so a few inches have been added to my waist from the bump (I am over 6 months along) and the person who I spoke with to order my clothes said she has no idea what to make for me. She said she has not made clothes for an expecting mum before so does not know what would look flattering on me. Any advices? I don’t want to wear something that will make me look like a balloon or anything too fitted. Any ideas please.. thanks!

Re: Style of desi clothes while pregnant..

Your tummy area will stick out not matter what the fitting is like, you won’t look like a balloon, you will look really cute  Also tell her to make them a big loner than the actual length given since the shirts do tent to ride up because of the belly!

Three years ago, I attended a wedding full blown pregnant, actually gave birth few hours after returning home, and nothing fit me at that point so I just had the dress made according to my measurements at the time, and I just went with it, didn’t care how I looked, only worry was on my part was not to fall down because I was 9 months and waddling here to there :hehe:

You need to provide more essential information.
Is it a dasi baby with desi husband etc....

sarees look nice...

Re: Style of desi clothes while pregnant..

Frocks are ideal, mostly nowadays girls wear frocks and I think it's perfect maternity wear, it's comfortable & also doesn't show too much shape.

Empire waists.

Re: Style of desi clothes while pregnant..

I am quite short (5'2) so cannot carry off a saree at all. The only time I wore it was on my wedding as per customs of my inlaws and I could barely even walk in it :(

Thanks.. I hope that doesn't make me look too bloated.

Re: Style of desi clothes while pregnant..

I can't post pics because I'm on my phone, but you have a ton of options. Especially because of the trend these days for long flowy kameezs. All the new kurtas and kameez's I own have so much cloth and have pleating, that I'm sure I can wear these outfits when I get pregnant with simply altering the bust.
Another trick you can do is get some beautiful kaam done on the back of the suit, and so you can drape the dupatta over your front and cover the belly, and you can still show off the detailing on the back.

Re: Style of desi clothes while pregnant..

How many months pregnant are you? Honestly with the loose anarkali type Kameezes you can easily fit a bump into them without having to order a special maternity outfit unless you are heavily pregnant. If you are heavily pregnant then I would still look into anarkalis or empire waist Kameezes.

It's hard covering up a bump with a lot of fabric and you run the risk of looking like a balloon all over, so don't worry so much about covering it since you can easily drape your dupatta.

Edit: oops just realized you mentioned you are over 6 months. Still look into empire waist style shirts.
