Style/Fashion faux pas!

Yesterday at Iftar party, I noticed the hostess had biggest fashion faux pas at least from most people’s perspective..and prolly it was fashion statement but to me it looked like fashion/style faux pas…interested in knowing what fashion faux pas have any of you made and when did you get to know it was, and how did you handle the situation…?

I made biggest mistake, when I had my boots on and obviously had sox on too, but then my mum said wear shalwar kameez instead of jeans…so changed into SK but because we were getting late did not take off my sox and looked cartoon with sox with my sandals…does anybody have time clock machine which can reverse it…although I forgot bout it…but still it was style/fashion faux pas and although it lasted three/four mins but still I wish I could turn the clock back…just couple of mins…

And what are common fashion/style faux pas we should be always aware of…?

Re: Style/Fashion faux pas!

Hehehe, I'm curious what is the one the hostess made?

When it comes to SK i think people who match accessories to the T look pretty darn tacky, say blue SK with blue earrings and necklace.

hehehe.... immediately after I opsted the thread.......I re-read it....and :) i knew that ppl would be interested in the hostess' faux pas!

Umm....I won't tell that one...till some others share theirs!... coz it could be the same!...:)

So belle what have you made....if any?

Re: Style/Fashion faux pas!

Well, i wore a micro-mini skirt without tights and went out, and when i was on the train i noticed that i had hairy legs...

OK thats a lie, but it adds to your collection. now u can tell us what crime the hostess committed.

:) lol...... she did the same as you! RupayHalwa...... :) just kidding...... no she did not do that... but tell me honestly what have you made......

Accessories is okay… but matching makeup is overkill, like blue nail polish, blue eye makeup even blue color contacts :smack:

yeah...I totally agree, but these are things which quite a few ppl do, so it does look tacky but it does not stand out as much as if there is some weird constrast...tsk...tsk......:)

anyway, Sara516, what faux pas have you ever made in your life.....do share na..........its learnng experience for everyone so that do not do that........I posted mine and my frens are telling me I should not........but I do not care....if I did....I did.......so what....let other ppl learn from my mistakes!

Re: Style/Fashion faux pas!

This is probably not a faux pas but i once wore a kameez backwards and only noticed a week after when looking at the pictures :smack:

oh and the biggest one hmmm…once upon a time I had a mullet haircut, now if you know what that is, its pretty darn bad!

:) lol...I also had one in Pakistan.....but it was due to load shedding...... and also as usual that me being late......so had to rush and ended up wearing different colored heels......but in that one it turned out more fun as it was only frens.....

but again it is not "true" faux pas...it is rather unconscious one.....like yours!

Re: Style/Fashion faux pas!

Desi aunties decking out in SKs and matching everything down to the earings with the color of their SK.

contrasting is there to use, USE IT !!

Re: Style/Fashion faux pas!

i really dun like wearing sandals over socks but i remember i went to this wedding wear a model was wearing striped colourfull socks wid SK and sandles it looked pretty wierd :\

n abt me hmmmmmm lemme think its so ez to think abt others yet so hard to think abt ur own faults

Re: Style/Fashion faux pas!

My mum sent me this very cute knee length dress. White with shocking pink flowers.

I was so in love with the fact that mum had sent it that I totally overlooked the huge pink flowers on it till i stepped out in it and had a few friends comment on the shocking pinkness of the flowers :@:

Adra.......Oh...thats cute... but since sentiments and emotions were involved in that case..I am assuming it would not be that bad faux pas!

Last year in one of the hill stations in Pakistan, I was walking with my friends and saw sumthing glittery coming towards us on a dark road.......I thought there must be some car behind us whose lights are making the things on the clothes of the person coming towards us...glitter......

NO.......I was wrong......the guy had string of lights which he was using as buttons for his jacket and they were not even static lights...they were going on and off........this kind of stuff looks weird on M Jacksons but to see in real life was.......pretty interesting experience......

Re: Style/Fashion faux pas!

Does anyone remember those pants with the straps on the bottom that would hook around your feet? They were big in the 90's and even though I was a kid, I wanted them and got them.

Oh and along with that, I also had curly hair I had no idea how to style.

I have burned every picture from that era...

Hey PSquared....you should have kept them...:) I mean should not have burned them..you never know that same fashion might come back in 10 years from now........and then you'll regret that why did you burn all those fashionable pics of yours!

But on a serious note I know that past fashions look crazy even if we see our pics which are five years old....

Re: Style/Fashion faux pas!

OK, i admit to wearing socks with sandals ONCE! Only bcos i was only going to a local friends house, and it was COLD and my feet hurt in shoes and sandals were comfortable, and i thought no one would c me. However, when i got to my friends house, she reprimanded me severely for doing what our middle ages mums would do!

:) ok..... I know...... don't we wish (in such a situation) that ppl around us should have "selective optical illusion"..... and our sox just disappear in their eyes!

.....so RupayHalwa you and me have made same faux pas..... I am not telling my more until you take lead on this from here onwards!

Re: Style/Fashion faux pas!

I grew up in a little town near Orlando, wearing socks with sandals was overlooked cause most tourists did it :D

I hate UGH boots and I hate ppl who wear 'em outside. They are meant to be worn inside your home not out.

Re: Style/Fashion faux pas!

^ U grew up in US? Really?

No, actually it was Uranus If I remember correctly :chai:
