The decision caught everyone by surprise but the event’s organisers later clarified that Akmal won the award because he took the most catches during last year. The article doesn't say but was it even a close contest between the three? Dhoni and Sangakkara both have kept really well behind the stumps, especially Dhoni has improved in the past couple of years. I am thinking it was a matter of luck as to who held onto the most edges.
Kamran Akmal can hold onto the award and think memorably of the good old times.

Guys it was a misprint. Kamran got award of best Field-error and not Field-er

Both the awards to Pakistani cricketers are questionable - what's the criteria? I am sure there was pawwa involved with these two. It's a joke to award Kamran Akmal best Asian wicket keeper/fielder and another joke to give Shoaib Malik best Pakistani cricketer of the year award.
